Do you also dislike a virtual keyboard used by video game consoles?

I do so. Therefore I have started a project called AK360 - it's an innovative virtual keyboard controlled by gamepad's analog sticks. The AK360 was build as an alternative of mentioned current video game sw keyboard. You can freely download it, use it, test it...

Sure. But existence of any hw doesn't confute advantages of the AK360 in comparison with current software solutions...

Is there a button to select the letter or do you have to hold it? I think with 2 big enough circles you could fit the entire alphabet, a button to select would be neat too.

accoring the left stick position (must be hold), right circle is changed automatically with a concrete letter listing

He said faster than the video above, not this video. I suppose you could get fast with that and it might be better when you're no longer confused on how to use it. I find the virtual keyboard to be a PIA, and I'd guess I'd find this to be a PIA as well. Hell I find anything that's not a native keyboard a PIA. I hate using almost all touch keyboards on my Droid phone, Xoom, Kindle Fire. Swype is about the best thing out there, and I get annoyed when it's guessing the wrong thing I'm swyping. It's no good for my passwords as I can't swype them. IMHO there's nothing better than a Standard Keyboard for entering data and I do find the Virtual Keyboard to be a pain but easy to pick up and learn how to use albeit slow. It's a nice idea and I wish you luck with it but I think i'll pull out my BT keyboard before I use it.

First video only shows "how it works", so I decided to write letters really slow. Second vid presents it's speed and that depends on a practice. I absolutely agree with you, it won't be better/faster than a Standard Keyboard, as it is a hardware. On the other hand, I - lazy gamer - require and derserve more suitable software keyboard on my console.

why? does it look confusing?
as gamepad's analog is relly sensitive, it would be a hard to hit a concrete character.

For me it depends, i am not too fussed with a qwerty keyboard used by SONY, i can type pretty quickly with the controller.

I do however HATE the alphabetically order one on the xbox 360, just annoying.
