Christmas? 360? Sure!

Well, after seing all the games the 360 has got on the sleeve, i just thought that i might want to get a 360 for christmas.
Seems like 360s charm has seduced me
Anyway, i have some ideas that i dont have very clear on my mind, and i would appreciate i someone gave me a had with them.

1- Are 360s games region free?
2- What games can i get?
3- When is Lost Planet coming out?

1. Some games are region free (I know Saints Row and Prey are off the top of my head). They are available for cheap from import sites like play-asia.com.

2. I'm not sure what games are available in Spain.

3. Lost Planet is due out sometime in 2007.

I remember seing an add saying that GeoW launched the 17 Nov.
Who will win the fight i wonder? MGS3S or GoeW? Both launch the same day here.

I thought i could get GeoW, GRAW, Halo1 and 2, and maybe SC Double Agent.

if only LIVE was free then i'd have a x360 instead of waiting for the PS3
i think the 360 just has alot more cooler games. Not to say Playstation doesn't have lots of good ones too but u know what i mean

Well, i am also waiting for PS3, but it comes in March here.
So i thought i could be getting it or christmas, so i still keep my 800Euros for my PS3.

I was gonna wait for PS3 and skip 360 but now that I caved in and bought one I'm more than happy with it, there are so many good games coming that it would have been a crime to miss out, it'll certainly keep me busy till Q3/Q4 07 when I'll get a PS3 to coincide with all the big games coming.

Well, for Multiplatform games, i rather buy them for PS3. If i am paying barely the same for the same game, i prefer to get the one with a better performance. So multiplatform is going to be PS3.
I like 360 for some of the exclusives.
Blue Dragon looks great, and if its made from the team that made Chrono Trigger...Do i need to say anything else ?

Well, saying that some of the multi-platform games are reported to perform slightly better on 360 than PS3 (F.E.A.R and stranglehold but to name a few). Either way, the differences will be minimal, so it's up to you (probably which online system you want to use Live vs. PNP )

Dude from 1up went to Vegas and demoed the game. Apparently he's a Rainbow fan and he said it played a lot like 3. So it's looking good.

Yeah i heard its more like 3 than anything else, but still... i've been put off the whole franchise.

Shame... i remember buying the original Rainbow Six when it came out on PC.

I liked R6:3 the best. I was too young to appreciate all the planning required in the first one and I never got into the second one. I played R6:3 on PC and later on Xbox in a clan. Black Arrow was sweet too.

I think when you release SO MANY sequels and add-ons and expansion packs then the whole franchise starts to seem sort of over-milked and silly.
Thats just my opinion, but its how i feel about any franchise that has nineteen sequels and thirty-two expansion packs etc.

Wait... except for Final Fantasy. The above doesn't hold true for that franchise.

The backwards compatibility list of games from Xbox to Xbox 360 is growing so check the list at xbox.com. You can find alot of great Xbox titles used at Ebgames or Gamestop. People do forget the fact there is a back cataloge of Xbox games that actually work on the 360. Have fun.

Actually that kinda pissed me off. I thought every game on the xbox was capable of being played on the 360...boy was that a wrong idea. I dont see how the list of games can grow...its not like their updating your 360. Microsoft blew it on this one.

It wasn't Microsoft it was the hardware itself. They have to write an immulator for each game which is a major undertaking. I think it all has to do with the processors more then anything. I believe the PS3 will actually have a PS2 processor in it so all they need to use is software without immulation.

I personally think backward compatiblity should not be in the equation when developing a new console because it holds back the new console in some form. Microsoft feels it has to because Sony is doing it. I still have an Xbox that works great so I don't even need to worry about the BC list.

I see your point and I do somewhat agree. While its a pain to design, its also a feature. I'm at college and I cant be lugging around 2 consoles. Same problem goes for many other people I am sure...even if its just the pain of setting up 2 consoles of the same make in one room. If we already have a PS3, Wii, 360 and god knows what else in there, I just dont have the patience to add in a regular xbox. If there is a way Microsoft can begin to create more dual platform games...I'm all in for that.

I would buy a 360 but i also want the ps3 and i cant have both.
So i will give the 360 a miss.

Getting a 360 this christmas would not be a bad idea. SO many great games will be out by then, or shortly after.
