Since I've always been interested in Left4Dead and its cooperative elements I was intrigued to see Resident Evil taking a similar turn (as a spin-off of course). However, it got pretty mixed reviews.
Has anybody played it yet? Is it worth getting for the multiplayer aspect?
I'd really like to have an alternative to Battlefield 3 for a change...

My brother has the game but he has yet to play it(He's out of town). Can't wait to hear his impressions since he was looking forward to it.

You know a game sucks when Craigslist is filled with this game the day after it came out.
I tried it out for a few hours and the only thing that is Resident Evil about the game is the mention of the G-Virus and Raccoon City. Shitty game + great franchise name = shitty game with great franchise name.

I'm really enjoying this game so far. The co op and competitive multiplayer modes are great fun.

Despite the poor feedback, I'd still strongly consider buying this game (on the really, really cheap) for the chance to kill that limp-dick Leon.

how many times can you go back to that freaking town?

To be honest, I'm not even that crazy about RE6. And it's a good thing I didn't rent Operation Raccoon City and Silent Hill Downpour instead. Silent Hill actually scares you.

Picked this up today. Given how non-broken both this and AMY are, I think the horrible reviews these games have gotten say more about the sorry state of game journalism and today's gamers than they do about these games. Neither one is perfect, by any means, but they're FAR from the disasters so many people seem to get a kick out of calling them.
I played through to the 3rd stage on RE: ORC's campaign mode, occasionally with other players and occasionally by myself, and it was a fun time. I'm far from experienced with shooters, but blasting zombies, hunters and crimsonheads was a great nostalgic bloodbath. The biggest flaw in my opinion became noticeable when you play solo campaign, and you realize your A.I. teammates are basically just remote-controlled guns - you can't really rely on any help from them in a complex boss battle. The rest of campaign mode was rather simple and straightforward, but still a good time (fighting your way out of a room that is on fire and stuffed with lickers is a hoot).
Also tried the online "Heroes" mode, because I just HAD to play as Claire once again (first time since Code Veronica). It was more fun than campaign, and the potential for absolute chaos (caused by burning zombies, hunters and another team trying to kill you) is high. All the old characters look great - Claire, Leon, Ada, Carlos, even pre-RE5 Jill.
Probably not worth $60 to non-rabid RE fans, but not the failure the reviews and most of this thread makes it out to be. Just because you're no good at a game doesn't mean it's broken.

Not a great Resident Evil game, but still more fun than another gray-brown modern military shooter. And the chance to re-experience the opening sequernce of Resident Evil 2 was a wonderful surprise!

no just wait for resident evil 6, or you can rent it and see if you like it. im sure res 6 going to be a really good game i know psu gave it a 3.5 in this sites review. i think you should wait for res 6 and maybe get another game. idk what other games are out right now, tekken X street fighter seemed pretty good when i played it in gamestop while waiting for operation raccoon city but dont get it if you have seizures or pronede to seizeurs like i do. otherwise its a good game too just suggesting

The game got horrid reviews, but me and my friend thoroughly enjoy playing it. Online multiplayer is decent. Really tired of people always voting to play yhe same 2 or 3 maps over n over n over again. I hadn't even attempted single player. I doubt it'll be that great with 3 dumb cpu teammates, but coop is freaking awesome.
I only wish it was 6 player coop and 6 on 6 rather then 4 player coop and 4 on 4 since their are 6 char to choose from. I hate when me n friends log in and have to exclude players from the group since its only 4 player. I give the game a 7/10 personally. Not great, not bad but plenty of fun with friends.
I suggest that if anyone has/had any interest in the game that they should rent it. If you like it then buy it. If not your out a big Mac.
People take game reviews way to seriously these days. They are just the opinion of a reviewer after all. People should be able to try something and have their own opinion instead of just assuming they will/won't like something because someone else does/doesn't. I've disliked numerous games that have had high reviews while loving some with low reviews. It's nice having your own thought and opinions.
The biggest fault this game has is people/reviewers expecting a typical RE experience when it isn't supposed to be.... That's why its a spin-off and not RE6.Last edited by faaeng; 04-10-2012 at 02:33.
PCs are very much like Air Conditioners.
They both become utterly useless once you start to open up Windows....
