http://www.wwltv.com/around-the-web/...145871615.htmlA 23-year-old Washington woman who admitted she lied when she said her father raped her won't be facing any charges.Prosecutors said if they were to charge Cassandra Kennedy with a crime, it might discourage girls from reporting sexual assaults.
Kennedy, who said she lied because she was disappointed in her father after her parents divorced, said it was guilt that finally compelled her to come forward to police and admit she lied that her father raped her as an 11-year-old girl in 2001.
Thomas Edward Kennedy, Cassandra's father, denied the allegations, but was convicted by a jury in 2002 and sentenced to more than 15 years in prison.

Fuck the law. She should be locked up for 10 years and he should get compensation for his time.
Edit: Ok, 10 years is a stretch but I definitely think she should be punished, regardless of the fact she was 11 when she lied about it.

She should really get some sort of punishment. The father lost ten years of his life for nothing. Sickening

Yeah, what could you charge her with as an 11 year old? I don't think its right, but she was barely old enough to be charged with any crime. I wish there was something that could be done, but I doubt there is much if anything though.

Rape is already hard enough to prove and it's hard enough to get girls and women to come forth about it.
This case makes people doubt rape even more.
Yes, she should be punished for this, even if it's something like 3 year probation or something.Awww! Little baby bunny! <3

Too many good men locked away over nothing which I've witnessed myself. Such a flawed and corrupted system. Got a lawyer?: Good, you might get a year or two in prison. Don't have one?: 6 1/2 years in prison for you(Oregon's Measure 11) - Regardless if you're guilty or not.

People who try to get someone in trouble for raping them deserve to be sentenced for how ever long the 'rapist' would get sentenced for.
What a fucking bitch.

Just another facet of the gender divide. Courts often favour women over men. No punishment for lying because other women may be 'put off'? Ridiculous nonsense and a slap in the face for any man wrongly accused.
A man is wrongly accused, convicted and punished as a result of lies and yet that's not reason enough to ensure there are adequate protections there for men...

Is the father getting compensated? What is he going to get for false imprisonment, reputation destroyed, put on sex offenders list, loss of ten years of his life that he'll never get back, false conviction, never EVER being able to hold a job, never EVER being able to vote, never EVER being able to exercise his other INALIENABLE rights, never EVER being able to go out in public for fear of being persecuted, mentally and physically, never EVER being able to LIVE where he wants to live. No. There is no amount of compensation large enough to recover from that.

He should get compensation. Don't they ususally remove your name from the sex offender list if you are wrongly convicted? Same for a job, he will get one considering they found him not guilty.
Lying to the police, jury and judge and falsely testifing.

But it's okay if it's a man that suffers. Just so long as women aren't put off from coming forward. So I ask, what's the deterrent for those who choose to abuse the system and falsely accuse?
Reminds me of another story on this forum last year, an English school teacher had sex with several boys all under the age of consent. Statutory rape. She was not prosecuted after her defence of 'low self esteem' was accepted. What would happen if that was a man?

If i was this bitch's father i would sue her for every last penny she could ever make in her entire life, even that won't compensate for 10 years of his life!!
Fucking stupid law.

She's just getting to walk away after taking 10 years from her father's life because she was "disappointed"? Fucking bullshit.

If it was me that was falsely convicted, I'd open up a civil suit against the daughter, each jury, each prosecutor, the judge, each member of the media and media corporation involved with my case, the local police precinct, the local and county political precincts, the state legislation, state attorney, state judiciary and any and all governmental and corporate bodies involved. I would seek punitive damages, damages for any mental and physical pain endured while in prison, damages against the prison guards, discrimination suits against any and all employers who refuse to hire me based on my now false criminal record, etc, etc, etc.

Charged with what? I'm not disagreeing with you here. I just hear this a lot in cases that I've worked. "He should be charged", "You should lock her up", etc., regarding various cases. My response is the same, "Charge them with what?", "Lock her up for what?".... If I have told someone that I can't arrest someone for X, and someone doesn't believe me, I welcome them to find a law that I can charge someone with.
Well, the court system worked as well as it could in this case. I doubt he'll see anything out of this from the State. The conviction was upheld through the appeals process. The ony issue is really the girl lying.

I call bullshit.
Rape kit would most likely be mute as the time between the "claim" and the time she "claimed it happened" would have probably been way to long. What other evidence was there? All circumstantial at best but because of the claims, testimony typically stands up.
It is all she said it happened. We all know that' what it came down to.
I've seen similar cases time and time again where the only "evidence" was verbal testimony.
Hell, I studied Law so I've seen tons of cases.
He should be able to sue her ass. She deserves a jail sentence. Perjury at the least because she would have obviously testified.
I mean fuck, they believed a woman that was obviously mentally messed up.
The father is screwed for life. even though she recants, he is released and it stricken from his record...people will always look at him as if he did do it. We all know that the mere accusation and charges laid is enough to mark someone as a deviant in society, regardless of facts, etc.
