I've had Mass Effect 2 sitting in my collection since it came out & I've only just around to playing it.
So far, I'm about 4-5 hours in & I'm enjoying it, but does anyone have any tips for getting the best out of the game?

Explore everywhere. I think I did nearly all side missions and got way more out of the game than just going through the main story.

Just do lots of side quests and talk with the people on the Normandy especially your team mates.

Tips? Don't wait so long before playing a game like the Mass Effect series.
Real tips: Before activating Legion, make sure to do as many of the missions as possible. If you have all the DLC, do them all except Arrival before that point as well.
Believe it or not, try to be 75% or more Paragon or Renegade before doing the final mission. Being extremely nice or mean plays a lot into how everything ends.
Try to get everyone to survive the suicide mission.
EXPLORE EXPLORE EXPLORE!!! By explore, I mean scan and mine every planet in the game for every little side quest and resource you can.
UPGRADE UPGRADE UPGRADE!!! By upgrade, I mean upgrade ALL your weaponry, armor and facets of the ship as you'll need everything you can get.
I hope this helps.

These tips are best for insanity difficulty but they should be helpful on any difficulty:
- Go to Omega and recruit Mordin ASAP
- When Recruiting Archangel don't leave anyone with him when you are given the choice. Unlike you, he can do just fine on his own.
-Try to recruit as many team members as you can before doing their loyalty missions. The obvious exceptions are Kasumi and Zaeed(if you have the cerberus pass). For those you can do their loyalty missions right away
- Once you completed Myranda's loyalty mission, make sure that either your paragon or renegade rating is no less than three bars before doing Jack's loyalty mission (and vice versa). Same thing with Tali and Legion.
- When fighting Collectors, always try your best to leave harbinger for last, and always have someone with you who has warp ability.
- After the mission where you meet Ashley/Kaiden focus on getting the rest of the team, and if you want, do N7: Anomalous Weather Detected mission to get some damage protection. You are going to need it.
- Evolve Overload into Area Overload, warp into Heavy Warp, Incinerate into Incineration Blast. Those evolutions will help you greatly
- No need to max out tech damage by wasting money on upgrades in stores since you will find several tech upgrades on missions.
- Grenade launcher is one of the best heavy weapons mainly because of its blast radiusLast edited by Terminator 101; 04-06-2012 at 18:35.
Almost everyone will say: buy console that has games that you want, and those who say otherwise are ignorant.

Playstation Move for the win!

I'm 6 hours into it. The sheer scale of the game is overwhelming. I've been trying to explore and talk to everyone. Sometimes I don't even care if I get lost (which I do). I wish I had played the first game to get more attached to the characters.
The universe in the game is very cool and this is ESPECIALLY surprising because I though I hated science fiction.
So glad I gave it a try, and now I understand why it won GOTY awards.
