Accusations of GAME deliberately misleading consumers with false advertising

GAME deliberately misleading consumers with false advertising

    Last Updated: 6th Apr 2012
It seems UK retailer GAME still haven't learned how to conduct themselves it seems despite almost going down the pan recently.

Their website is clearly advertising 2100 Xbox Live points for only 9.99 which is a super deal and a great way to encourage consumers to jump back in. Yet further investigation reveals that when the item is clicked the point value is only 1200 points for 9.99. If you're after the advertised 2100 then you'll have to pay 16.49 which isn't so attractive. This is a shocking oversight, false advertising and highlights that GAME are using unsavoury tactics. GAME were unavailable for comment on this issue at present but are likely to blame this on an error when questioned.

    I had to click on

DIGITAL > SEE OUT XBOX LIVE GAMES > then click on the number 2 from the Xbox Live slideshow.

    I'm guessing it's a $#@! up, and nothing intentional.

I added "Accusations" to the thread title to justify the original post.

Yeah, it's not like it was on the front page or anything lol. I had to go out of my way to actually find the bad ad.

It will be easy enough to explain, being the 2 and 1 got mixed up.

I can't see this being deliberate as it would (and sounds like it has, understandably) attract heat very quickly.

If they've sold to customers who have accepted the 'invitation to treat' I'd expect they need to honour the deal, otherwise they'll simply need to refuse any unfulfilled orders and obviously correct their website.
