This would reinvent RTSes.
The surest sign that you are on the right side of a debate is when you find yourself against those who are stuck in the past. It is they whom have no future.
Would be great for wallpapers and such..
I have always wanted a videowall with exotic locations which track user as he walks around the house. (IE. Japanese garden.)
The most important thing to beat is latency as it is with any VR systems.
If it takes longer than 33ms to get movement to the screen the thing starts to feel strange.

It's all coming together nicely. The 3D depth camera/eyetoy that was patented recently together with Move and their passion for 3D is gonna make some badass $#@! down the line. They are already R&Ding head tracking with the existing personal 3D viewing visor that was released last year. The 2 dimensional barrier between the game and the gamer is something I left behind last year when I got my 3DTV and I don't wanna go back. Ubisoft were on the mark imho when they said that "3D is to pictures what dolby stereo was to sound".
I can't wait to see where they go with it. Also, it's great to see so many devs and publishers embracing it. Come on Bioshock Infinite!
I'm just thinking production values bro
Looks like its gonna be cool even tghought people are probably are going to be mad if you just bought a PS3 haha.
Sounds cool but sony needs to be thinking about some cost cutting at this point. With their financial status I don't see them bringing this any time soon.
I remember GT5 had head tracking.....I always switch it on in the options but it never worked it did anything

^^ Fair enough. 3D is no more necessary for the gaming experience than stereo sound is. Having said that, I don't intend to going back to mono anytime soon. 3D done well (Uncharted 3, AC: Revelations, Batman: AC, Child of Eden) totally elevates the experience for me. Holy $#@!, gliding in Batman: AC and ziplining/leap of faithing in Revelations...

This makes me chuckle a little how stuff like this gets recycled for new news. If I recall, this was released in 2007 on youtube.
He said that a similar technology was showcased in 2008 (and your 2007 vid). I think the patent the OP vid was referring to was this. Given Sonys current course and rabid adoption of 3D, I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility.
I personally hope they do bring it to market, as I think the homebrew stuff as in my vid is neat... however, i do think that there is a horrible trend towards wearing $#@! heading into gaming. Glasses, headsets, etc... all obtrusive in my opinion, no matter the end result, I think most gamers prefer grabbin a controller and sitting their ass down to play.

Not all 3D is the same. You can easily have a bad 3D experience if you do not try the right tv technology.
And I do hope nobody uses the 3DS as their experience with 3D or I will have web kick you in the throat.
I'm glad that publishers and devs are really getting it behind it. Ken Levine's seal of approval is enough to give me confidence in 3D's future.
