Like the last several major Grand Theft Auto franchise entries, Grand Theft Auto V is being developed by Rockstar's Edinburgh, Scotland-based Rockstar North studio. Character animator Alex O'Dwyer is an employee at Rockstar North, according to both his LinkedIn page and his CV, and he seems to think that Grand Theft Auto V will launch this October.
As seen in the image above, O'Dwyer's CV puts GTA V's launch window firmly in the holiday season – not exactly a bizarre concept considering Rockstar's history of launching GTA titles during the holidays (with the exception of Grand Theft Auto IV, that is). It would also put sufficient time between Rockstar's May launch of Max Payne 3, but would totally buck the trend of Rockstar releasing more than one title in any given year.
We've reached out to Rockstar and O'Dwyer for comment, but, well ... it's Easter. Hopefully we'll hear something soon. For now, we're putting this squarely in the "rumor" column.
October definitely seems like an appropriate time to launch the title.

I doubt R* will put the game out this year. They tend to fuck up release dates all the time. Plus Max Payne 3 is getting all the shine for this year.
Prepare for meltdowns if these next gen console rumors are true. Phase 1: Denial. Phase 2: Mask a lie under "opinion" vs a fact. Phase 3: Bring up the PS3/360 era when it has nothing to do with the subject. Phase 4: Say that the power gap doesn't matter but constantly defend the weaker specs.

I'll be waiting to make sure there's more to this game than there was GTA IV. "Ride To Hell" holds much more interest for me (the "N/A" upsets me).
Shut up and play games

I would be surprised if it didn't. A common trend with Grand Theft Auto games is that they're almost always released in the month of October. GTA IV was simply delayed because of problems with development on the PlayStation 3 version.
Also, the Rockstar North employee's CV was recently pulled down, which can only give more credence to this rumor.Last edited by Blacksite; 04-09-2012 at 02:41.

The real question is: Will Take Two release Bioshock Infinite and GTA V in the same month to compete against each other...

But Bioshock and GTA are completely different games. So why would it matter if they all com out in the same month?
Almost everyone will say: buy console that has games that you want, and those who say otherwise are ignorant.

Playstation Move for the win!

October: bioshock
November: COD
December: no one releases it on december
So if i was R* and the game was near completion and could make an October release date, i would take it. GTA would be better of competing with bioshock than COD.
Also i heard this is fake.

I wouldn't mind, but I'm sure this is the year of Max Payne.

Rockstar have the habit of not keeping things to themselves, this is no surprise and it will not change the release of gta v this year

Thanks to Spyrde/Sylar

I seriously doubt Take Two would want to release 2 big AAA titles (Bioshock & GTA) the same month.

Plus they are going to want to release something next year to boost their profits for next year's FY reports. GTA5 will do just that.

I would be very surprised if GTA V was released this year. Max Payne 3 and Bioshock Infinite are the heavy hitters for Take Two this year. GTA IV was released in April 2008. I see GTA V being released sometime next spring.
I really hope "Agent" is fully revealed at E3 this year. Jack Tretton confirmed that it's still in development at last year's E3 conference.

I would think they would "delay" GTA V until around April. I really can't see them releasing it around the same time Bioshock Infinite and the next Call of Duty. That would be kind of dumb.
Also, regardless of when they release it. I'll be getting both Bioshock and GTA V. The two games I am most looking forward to currently.Steam ID: satchgear
