Epic Games' president Mike Capps has revealed Bulletstorm 2 was in the initial stages of development but the project has since been put on the back burner.
Speaking to GameSpot at PAX, Capps said Polish dev studio People Can Fly, which put together the original FPS romp, has since been moved to a more suitable project.
"We thought a lot about a sequel, and had done some initial development on it, but we found a project that we thought was a better fit for People Can Fly," he explained. "We haven't announced that yet, but we will be announcing it pretty soon."
As for Bulletstorm, the Epic exec said it's a franchise he's interested in returning to but remarked that the PC version suffered poor sales due to piracy and the quality of the port.
"I'd love to go back [to Bulletstorm]," he said. "I think there's more to do with Bulletstorm. Heck, it kind of ended wanting more. I'd love to see another project, but right now we don't have anything to talk about."
"We made a PC version of Bulletstorm, and it didn't do very well on PC and I think a lot of that was due to piracy. It wasn't the best PC port ever, sure, but also piracy was a pretty big problem."

Bulletstorm was great, shame they messed up with the online portion, same as ID with rage...
I miss the old days, ID and epic used to make great online games.

Gameplay is interesting but the campaign was terrible. I can't say much about the multiplayer since I couldn't even play it..

Yeah I found it a pretty average game, it was fun for portions but I couldn't even bring myself to finish the campaign. Just let my brother finish the last couple hours to get the achievement points lol

The gameplay was pretty cool but i never imported the game (it's cut here in germany) because there are alot of MP trophies and MP is broken so i said "f* it".
If i had the choice between Bulletstorm 2 and a new Painkiller game i'd pick Painkiller - we need more "classic" gory shooters if you ask me
The game had impressive bosses and solid MP so *fingers crossed for new PK*.

Sounded like a real mixed bag, with bad online period. I for one thought, meh. I would like to see EPIC unleash all their talent and imagination on a sequel though.

Rank piracy above product quality, way to go Epic!
Never be surprised that people don't buy into poor quality.
Incidentally, I have the game on my Steam account but haven't played it yet. Paid a whopping £3.50. Sounds like it was priced right.Last edited by *goo; 04-11-2012 at 21:38.
