Namco Bandai's punch-filled, alliteration-heavy Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will be making its way onto consoles this September, much earlier than the "Holiday 2012" release window originally announced during Spike TV's Video Game Awards last December.
The console version will be based on Tekken Unlimited Tag Tournament 2 and will feature some of the additions that game brought to the series, such as one-on-one and one-on-two matches. Additionally, a new "Pair Play" mode will allow four players to participate in the same tag battle, ala Mortal Kombat, while the "Fight Lab" training mode has been designed to teach beginners the basics while providing useful practice tools for series veterans.
Beyond new modes of play, the console version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will also launch with over 50 fighters, compared to the 44 available in the arcade version. Here's hoping Gon somehow makes the cut. We miss that little guy.

I despise Tekken with all of my being, but I said I'd buy Tekken Tag Tourney 2. Hopefully I'll stop bluffing and buy my Qanba stick by that time, too. And hopefully, I'll learn to like it as well.

That's a pretty impressive character roster.
Big fan of Tekken here, let's hope they bring Kunimitsu, Dr. B and Gon back if they are going to add even more characters for the console version.

I wonder if they will hae both Marshall and Forrest Law. Kuni would be good and also a version of P-Jack for laughs. I think Alex would be a good idea also.

Once upon a time I'd buy anything called Tekken (I have 1, 2, 3, TT, 4, 5
R) but the current gen games leave me cold. I regret getting 5
R and thought 6 sucked. I think they've gone way to far down the path DOA took. I'd really prefer they got back to basics, say a modern game more like Tekken 2 or maybe 3, and less like 6. Better graphics and physics, more characters, bring back the ending movies, get it back to being more realistic and less juggly and dump the DOA smoke and mirrors.
