Sony teases reveal next week - God of War 4 inbound?

"Will vengeance bring redemption?"

Sony is teasing a PlayStation reveal scheduled for next Thursday, and we're pinning our hopes on a new God of War game.





The company posted the image to the right on the PlayStation Facebook page. It reads: "Will vengeance bring redemption? 04.19.12." The word "vengeance" smacks of God of War talk to us, and is that blood splatter on the image?

Evidence of an imminent God of War 4 reveal has been piling up for some time now. The unannounced game has appeared on a number of CVs and been listed by multiple retailers.


Recently a retailer attending Sony's invite-only Destination PlayStation event teased an imminent God of War reveal through Twitter. This same retailer also said a kart racing game based on the LittleBigPlanet franchise was on the way, and we all know how that turned out.


Ready at Dawn, the studio behind the numerous excellent PSP God of War titles, recently is currently working on a new project, although it's believed to be for next-gen systems a PlayStation Vita entry in the series could be on the cards too.

I'd say it's for Resistance Burning Skies but who knows.
I don't think they will tease a title as big as a new GOW this way.

GOW is one of those series that just doesn't grab me at all..just hack and slash mindlessness. I tried playing the Collection, couldn't even complete the first one because I lost interest.

Santa Monica are a talented studio, I wish they would just start a new IP.

I hope it's not GOW4. Not that I wouldn't mind playing it, but I just think they should hold off on any more main series GOW titles until PS4.

Its GOW4 for sure.
But I don't see how the story will proceed, because vengeance never brings redemption. Kratos was on a fool's errand from the start. But that made for awesome games though.

I figured they were done after GoW3. Not that I won't play the game if it's well made but I don't know how they can continue. At least not with Kratos.

I like God of War... a lot.

But seriously after 3 games and 2 PSP spin offs I think its time for something new. Not every franchise has the legs to last forever. I think God of War, especially story wise has run its course.

If it IS GoW, I at least hope its a Vita spin off... but again, how many spin offs can you have

Sure, it’s hardly a massive leap of faith if you just wanted to guess, but I’ve just had a quick shufty for myself and figured it out in about a minute.

How? Easy. Go to the PlayStation Facebook page, then click on ’4.19′ date thingy at the top and you’ll end up here – a nice big image.

Look at the source, or grab an image URL and check the bit on the far right hand side. After all the gubbins you’ll see a location on the SCEA server.

The location? Reads a bit like this – webasset/fbml/gowa_fb/2.png – which, as I’m sure you can figure out, is based around Facebook but with ‘gowa’ at the end.
