Microsoft will implement another way to take your money through Xbox Live this holiday season, according to a description on group product planner Praveen Rutnam's LinkedIn profile. It reads: "Developed strategy to further monetize Xbox LIVE subscriber base that will be implemented for holiday 2012."
Without jumping to any rash, outlandish conclusions based on this vague statement, we can't help but consider what this change could be. One innocent possibility is a phasing-out of Microsoft Points, an event that was rumored in January and refuted in translation by Microsoft Switzerland. A more sinister possibility involves a console-based "online pass" and sacrificial spellwork.
Wow. Lots of rumors these days.

"As long as there are dreamers who have the courage to pursue their dreams, the world will have heroes. And as long as there is a thirst to discover the unknown, there will be new stories to tell...and new adventures to be had."
I'd prefer to get rid of points tbh, I'm always having to buy 500 points because im like 100-200 short, seems like a waste of money
I like the big words she used to describe everything.
Excited to see what else besides points are thrown in.
Please get rid of the point system.
Doesn't necessarily mean more money from existing subscribers. Could be new ways to entice non-subscribers to sign up and existing having more reason to continue to renew.

If they switch to cash, anything lower than $5 dollars will require you to put the minimum of $5 into your account. Anything that is over the $5 dollar minimum, you'll be able to buy with no issues -- you won't have any money just hanging in your wallet...
