It never used to be that way back in the day. I was just talking to a friend and said when I had atari and the like when I was little, I had no idea what a publisher was, what a developer was, had no clue what graphics were. I just put in pacman, pole position, pong or whatever, and had a good fucking time.

Yeah back in the day before the internet, when consoles were a niche media market and no companies had a massive stronghold to build up ridiculous brand loyalty.

But once certain companies rose to the top, people took offense with those companies being beaten at their own game.

You mean when sony had an unbeatable lead over nintendo and MS who were both left in the dust. If any previous gen was better, it was the 5th gen with Nintendo, Sony and Sega battling it out with decent games on all 3 consoles and sales not mattering. But that was it.

And like now with MS beating out Sony for 2nd place. This gen has gotten even worse than last gen as far as my console is better than yours bickering goes from both camps. I know the internet plays a huge part. For me the PS1, N64 and Dreamcast days were the best.

and why? there is no sane reason to be a fanboy. just because I don't like Uncharted doesn't mean the game is bad. It just reeks of boring for me. But saying that, right now, has someone's ass in the air guaranteed.

I do feel like sometimes, I maybe be accidently spending other peoples money, not mine when I do or dont like a game and choose to spend my money the way I do.
Value is always in the eye of the beholder, as I said before. I couldnt give a dam about Fable, but I wouldnt be without my Master Chief, I also wouldnt give a dam if it was a multiplatform game.

My first introduction to all of this was the day I turned up here to find out what I could about the PS3, back when I was still looking at buying a nex gen console (neither had come out here yet).

Yeah I bought a 360 at launch because it was the only next gen console out and I had the original Xbox and enjoyed the games it had. And PS3 I got at launch because I had a PS1 and PS2 before and enjoyed the games on those.

It was inevitable. As gaming became more and more mainstream, there was more and more at stake. All three companies have ramped up their CRM and have been very successful. The fan loyalty this gen wasn't just some random occurrence but a deliberate goal from the big three.

Hah. Yeah last gen was my favourite, I have to say. I was pretty young so probably didn't occur to me the shit Xbox and GC fans got from Sony fans, or the whole console war thing in it's entirety. I was too much of a game whore to see it developing lol. I just don't see any need for it anyway but humans are like this, so whatever.

Regarding Xbox players last gen, I played a TON of XBL, for 2 years straight since it came here. Rainbowsix 3, Halo2, Castle wolfenstein and Unreal Championship were my games [FPS much ]. I was so into it, even made a little clan and website and shit lol. The good old days . Then my uncle modded the XB and I don't think I ever went back on live after that.... until 360, that is
