Next Next gen from a sceptic

Okay so there is news starting to come out about the next gaming consoles namely the PS4 and Xbox 720, but I will be frank. The recession proved that people just want cheap and reliable not quality with a substantial price tag.

Now each company to be clear Sony and Microsoft are going for the power element; who can boast the best graphical powerhouse from their machine.

Sony with the release of the PS3 chose super power, but developers seemed to play ball with Microsoft's format more because the development costs where cheaper. Which is a major blow because we all know as a community how much Sony's console has to offer in terms of visual's and audio

Which leads me to my next question. We are still in a recession globally and both companies are talking about bringing out a console that will come with a quite big price tag from "graphical powerhouses", this gen has proved that hardware quality isn't everything but more locally software. This is where I believe Sony needs to build up upon and there is still money to be made in software because we all know their finances are in dire straits.

I thought I would chuck it out the from my own view.

I do not think any company has come out and said their next console was going to be costly. I am sure it will not cost any more than what consoles cost a few years back. $399 or so. The PS Vita sold like crazy in the US with a $250-$300 price tag. I also feel Sony hurt themselves by not adding enough ram to the console. That was their largest problem.

We already know Microsoft screwed up, but in order to keep their console below the $500 mark, (at launch) they pretty much had to use DVD over HD DVD or Blu-Ray.

Well RAM wise it had roughly the same amount. The problem I believe was the splitting of the RAM. If it were just one chunk it would have worked out just fine.

I don't think Microsoft or Sony will change much. Blu-Ray was in outter space with costs. Which set Sony to go with $600 bucks a console. I believe they will both go with $400/500 launch SKUs like what Xbox 360 launched with. The WiiU being around $299. That is just what I believe though. Its possible it might cost a little more. Depends on which rumors are true. Even as a low end system WiiU looks to gain the most by launching a year early and having rumored abilities of a modern 2012 PC. I think Nintendo is thinking the same way you are. Ultimately WiiU will be a big cash in for Nintendo for three reasons. One economy as you say. Two an actual online system. Three being that it will have large scale third party game support.

ook in all that is fair and honest, at the current moment in time

We should be focused on what we have now and understand that if they came out now. We could not afford them.. So a year or two would be the ideal time for a next gen console... I know alot has been posted and the buzz is their, but we have this gen to deal with first in my opinion
