You use buttons? For all the driving games I always attempt to use my steering wheel, or if I can't at least the analogue sticks, you get a lot more feel for the car and you don't get any superficial snagging when turning, braking, and accelerating, you get to control the car much better.D

I always had my head set on getting the official GT racing wheel. I dont know why, but I just....didnt.
I still want one, but I will probably get a Ps3 version when one comes out. I will mostly play my games on the Ps3 now and I dont want to revert back to playing GT on the Ps2 just for the official GT racing wheel. I hope one is released soon.Latest House and Trance set: High Glow

I used to use a steering wheel on the original GT games but it just didn't feel right. The analogue sticks are great for slower cars but as I love to race in the Polyphony Digital F1 car, the directional pad is the method of control that I used the most.

I bought it for €159 over 1.5 years ago, sure it should be well under the $100 mark by now. I've seen it on sale for about €60 over here, second hand of course, but in good shape. And even that was a year ago. There should be lots of places that offer it at pretty low prices nowadays, just look around. It's worth the effort.

Sorry to post this here... but I dont have 25 post so cant start a thread.
======
Hi all. New user here.
I recently bought a steering wheel for PS2.
Although it is fine quality and works well, I find there is a "dead space" in the center of the steering. That is to say, I turn the wheel about 45 or so degrees before anything happens. It makes driving really unrealistic and is actually harder to drive the game than with a hand held joystick.
Does anyone have knowledge of a steering wheel that doesnt have this "dead space" and actually responds as soon as you turn?
I have read up about the Logitechs and they sound like the best overall, but no one makes any mention of the "feature" I'm talking about. I've used other steering wheels before, all pretty cheap, and they seem to have the same issue. I'm wondering if spending more money fixes the issue, or is it a part of console steering wheels?
Any guidance much appreciated.

Gran Turismo 4 is my favourite racing game, next one would be Need for Speed Underground 2.
I love the b-spec mode on GT 4, helps doing those long endurance races.

Need for Speed Carbon is very underated.
I hate drift events on carbon, almost impossible to get the score needed to win.

I played it on ps2 and I hated it.
Cars are good, graphics not great, modding is crap.
Nothing like the quality of Most Wanted or Carbon but thats my opinion.
Might try it on Xbox 360

I've got a Playseat Evolution and a handful of wheels:

I had a Playseat Classic, but I got rid of it:

The Logitech wheels have always made the Playstation the system of choice for driving games. Microsoft's wheel is really, really poor by comparison.
NFS: Most Wanted is easily my favorite NFS game.
Enthusia: Criminally slept on. Konami committed suicide by releasing it on the same day as the original Forza. In my mind, Enthusia was the only game to challenge Gran Turismo by offering what earlier GT games, lacked... Emotion and drama. It can be had for $5 and is definitely worth checking out if you're a racing fan and enjoy GT.
All the Gran Turismos are awesome... I think Gran Turismo 2 was my favorite; it had some killer cars in it, including the Nismo-tuned 4-door GTR...
Corvette Evolution Racing wasn't bad a tall for a budget title; the whole rewind time thing in GRID? They stole it from Milestone (makers of Corvette Evolution Racing among others)...
Tokyo Xtreme Racer and Xtreme Racer Drift, bother very Japan-centric. The Xtreme Racer series hasn't aged well, but the Xtreme Racer Drift games are really westernized Kaido Battle games. Doiwnhill drifting at it's finest (and most difficult). You even get to race on tracks made famous by Initial D.

^ Much appreciated.

Burnout Paradise is amazing. The open-world structure put some people off, but it's easily the best game in the series; even better than Takedown (
), which I didn't think was possible.
Revenge was ok, but the traffic-checking ruined it for me; it took all the thrill and strategy out of the races since you could jut plow through traffic as opposed to having to avoid them at 200 mph...
