http://www.computerandvideogames.com...pen-world-gem/The first Prototype 2 review has arrived via the latest issue of GamesMaster, and it seems Activision might have a surprise open-world hit on its hands.
GM's given the sequel 86% - the same score it gave the excellent InFamous - and said that compared to the original it's "a much more unique proposition for fans of superheroes and civilian bashing alike." The mag sheds most praise on the amount of choice the Radical game offers to players, encompassing "satisfying" action and an "accomplished, varied and ultimately enjoyable" stealth system
"Prototype 2 gives power to the player in ways many titles can only dream of," it writes. "It gives you options, it lets you explore and experiment, and it's a riotous and compulsive experience. Drink it in."
Good stuff. Activision recently released a slightly emotional live-action trailer for Prototype 2, but if you'd prefer straight up face-smashing gameplay, have a gander at this recent tank mayhem trailer.
GamesMaster 251 is out on April 24 with a world-first look at Crysis 3.

Fuck yeah! So many people hate and shit on Prototype, but that was one of the coolest fucking games I#ve played this gen, despite it's shortcomings. Number 2 has just fixed everything that was wrong and missing from the first installment. I have been foaming at the mouth for this bitch since announcement.

There are no nasty collectibles and you don't need 57000+ kills for platinum this time

Can't wait! Was one of the few that actually loved the first game. Even say possibly liked it slightly more than Infamous 1. Maybe. But I really loved the dive bombs that you could do from the top of the Empire state building and send a shockwave for multiple blocks. Also running down infected in a tank! Was one of the best sandbox games this gen for sure. I'm sure the second will be the same only better. Bring it on!!!

Prototype shits on inFamous imho. I felt so gimped going from Prototype to inFamous 2. Cole feels so slow and clumsy compared to Mercer, who I had running up buildings before leaping off into a massive glide...P2 is bringing more to the game than I2 brought to the first...

I remember being really excited for the first one; then I had the misfortune of playing it. Ugly, uninteresting aesthetic, messy gameplay that was supposed to be buried under how over-the-top and awesome it supposedly was, a possibly interesting narrative trapped under boring presentation, and yada, yada, yada.
Despite all that, I still enjoy the premise, and if this one remedies the issues I had with the first then I want to play it. Nice to see a good first review.

I think if you can find the first for cheap, grab it. The main character of the first game is the enemy of the second, so you'll understand the characters a bit better in P2. P1 is still badass though. Jumped on today for a bit of infected slaying in the army chopper.
Sometimes I just cruise around the city (and by cruise I mean make hulk like leaps and bounds, running up buildings and flying all over)
.
Back on track, I don't think there would be any major issue if you skipped the first, but it is an amazing superhero title.

I was one of the few that always preferred Prototype gameplay I got a lot of stick for it here, what a difference a couple of years makes.

I also enjoyed Prototype (much more so than infamous) because the game made me feel like a real badass. I'm not too interested in its sequel though since it's set in the exact same city.

Remember: It's just one review, guys.
Congrats to Prototype 2, which is indeed a pleasant surprise, but I'm gonna wait to see how consistent it pans out when other critics take a look at the game.

If you like video games, I strongly advise you NOT to bother with the first one...
It'll probably dry up any enthusiasm you have for this sequel...
...as for me, I'm not expecting much...the first one was so gawddamn horrible, I think I might actually have to wait for more reviews and *gasp* take them SERIOUSLY before I consider buying...the over-the-top shit is always intriguing tho...

The only think putting me off this game is that its in the same map, makes me just think they became lazy, NY is IMO of the most most boring and overused locations...
