Steampunk at full steam
Right from the first information released, the new title of Arkane looked like a game that could give something back to industry, which could rejuvenate certain dogmas, with the express wish to move away from the stereotype of mass that now characterizes much of the first-person shooter crowding the market. It will be for the undisputed charm that always manages to inspire a setting steampunk, it will be for the new gameplay ideas or simply for people hired in the development team, but Dishonored capture the attention on himself so much to want to know more and more. At present the development proceeds in strict news blackout in order to better focus on the work which has as a general release date 2012.
The player will play Raven, who was the best guard in defense of the Empress. A work place with honor the character, trying to bring security to the state of uneasiness as it was the empire of Pandyssian. The facts, however, took the exact opposite way. The Empress was murdered he was convicted and Corvo. At the same time the new regime could not govern the people in turmoil, burdened by the epidemic of plague has reached epidemic proportions. The capital of the empire, Dunwall, where it will play all missions related to the plot, is a setting that recalls not just the much-vaunted City 17 in Half-Life 2.
The mind behind the creation of style in both cities is indeed Viktor Antonov, who wanted to bring in Dunwall those feelings of oppression and misery through buildings, which are inspired by Victorian design with the slashes, as the wounds of industry. The atmosphere is definitely one of the strengths of this game and you breathe in deeply through the streets studded detail, ranging from graffiti to posters of social protest. The basic setup of the game tends to be very stealth, because Crow is wanted for the murder aforesaid, as he tries to find the conspirators against the Empress to execute them in revenge, in a mission. The progression between the levels are linear, there is no question of a free roamign as some had speculated in the early stages of development, but what amazes me is freedom within them. The protagonist has, in fact, the powers given to him by a mysterious man named Outsider, a shady character, including demi-god and demon, which is revealed only to men that will change the course of events. These capabilities will provide an approach to the ever-changing situations.
Turning to the actual gameplay, you can not help but from the powers with which we destreggiarci during levels. The first and probably the one of the most dynamic, is the ability to teleport to where you are aiming for. With it you can pass critical points or devise traps, not limited to merely move around the map, but giving the opportunity to fully exploit the verticality of the buildings. Being able to walk on the balustrades, immediately move on a chandelier and then baste the premises of silent kill with a knife, will be on the agenda.
Whether the moves that the practical act of the killer, requiring meticulous planning if you want to stay in the shadows without being identified by the enemy. The second power is also focused on action planning as, the Dark Vision gives us the ability to see enemies through walls but also to visualize their vision cone. The last of the powers proved so far is the possession, with which we can take control of an enemy, to bring in an isolated place and kill him out of the reach of prying eyes, or a rat, for trace analysis of pipes and the best ' environment before you act, but also an unsuspecting fish passage in the channel. These powers are administered through a kind of mana recharges through the appropriate elixir. By virtue of his freedom, Dishonored offers the opportunity to undertake any situation, even infischiandosi anonymity, throwing then straight into the fray. Thus people will break through a door with a shock wave and attack by combining the long knife, gun and some grenades as well, with lots of bullet time activated. Experience is a true sandbox where everyone can find the way best suited to their character.
An important place for the conduct of the game will be the Pits Hound Pub, where the player can sell items accumulated during play for money, helpful to the progressive improvement of weapons, the purchase of disposable items and elixirs can temporarily change the "statistics" of our character. In this place you can also swap runes ritrovabili in higher-Outsider in exchange for upgrades to powers. The pub is also a useful place to intercept information to plan the next steps. These data can also be found peering from doors and patches of overhearing conversations. In several cases, the game will put us in the face of moral choices that will split exactly between good or bad, but will reflect the will of the player taking it to different endings. Different endings also depend on who and how many people he killed himself, thus giving the title a very high replay value.
While from a purely technical point of view, the game Arkane's no wonder, with polygonal models and textures almost average, the bulk of the work is visually retrievable design. Dunwall is a city that fully reflects the perfect steampunk and neo-rinasmimentale. Structures, machinery, all the characters have a unique construction style, able to generate a sense of empathy in the player, like few other titles on the market. According to images shown so far, but also knowing who is behind this ambitious project, we can be confident that the final realization.
Dishonored game promises to be the revelation of 2012, strong innovative mechanical design but mostly out of the ordinary. Just to mention some of the developers involved as the game designer Harvey Smith (Deus Ex and Thief), Raf Colantonio (Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic) or already considered Viktor Antonov, to understand the possibilities inherent in this game . We just have to wait for the release date, we will inform you during these months, so stay updated on our pages.
This game sounds better and better, everytime i hear about it
