Have any of you Vita owners figured out anything that extends the battery life? It can be as simple as turning down brightness or turning off the background music. I'm trying to pull together some tips for new Vita owners and I want to give them some ideas on how to get the best battery life.
Any suggestions?

Lower screen brightness, I have it on the lowest and it's still pretty bright. Keep the volume down is a good one, turn off system music too. Disable wireless networks when not using them, though some games do that for you.

Whenever I'm home, I've got everything turned on, but that also means I'm plugged. However, before I leave I make sure I turn the brightness down to 50% or so, turn off the Wi-fi and Bluetooth (because they can be memory hogs even when not in use, since the Vita will continue to find devices to connect to) and mute the Vita by pressing the + and - volume buttons simultaneously for a second. Also, I believe having multiple apps running in the background makes the Vita work harder and thus use more battery, so I peel every app I won't use while I'm out (like friend list, messages, near and such).
Hope it helps!

From experience of not charging my Vita after a few days but adding the time I used it over a few days, I'd say I can squeeze up to a bit more than 4 1/2 hours.

Btw I love peeling apps, I wish my tablet could do the same thing I have no idea whats actually running or stealing ram / processor power, lol.
Another tip is, if your not going to be using the Vita for a while hold the power and shut it off, the Vita is lightning fast you'll be back where you were in no time.Last edited by mickice; 04-25-2012 at 18:19.

I get 5-6hrs of gaming life. On standby and browsing with the Vita I go a full day with a single charge.
Brightness set to 60%
Dash music turned off
Location services turned off
Bluetooth disabled

I love having all of the automatic functions the Vita offers; consequentially, I don't mind living near a charger.
Initially, though, I deactivated all automated functionalities like Near and location. Messaging is another automatic thing that can be done manually, and the PS button notification can also be switched off, thanks to 1.65.

Thanks for the feedback, all. I've posted a basic tip sheet here. Let me know what you think and if you have more suggestions.
I plan to write some more basic tip guides as I think a lot of people would find this stuff useful!

Bit late, but I get about 3.5 hours, wifi on, brightness 25%, BG music off, 50-50 gaming/browsing.
