Anyone heard of it? It's an open world RPG by Capcom. I read about it in Gameinformer and now I am interested. Has anyone played the demo yet? What were your impressions? What did you dislike about it?

Seems your quite late to the flow of Dragon's Dogma BlackWolf, however I think your thread could have been merged with the 'DD Demo Impresssion' thread rather than this one.
I quite thoroughly enjoyed the demo, apart from the length of it being quite short. Would have wished for a larger variety of content. Also the AI seemed quite chaotic in the closed in environments, however reading further reviews of the demo, a few people suggested to run with only 1 pawn and not get the other 2 from the rift stone, and this allowed me to actually see what I was doing in terms of damage. Also there is a lot of clutter around the screen as well, such as pawn text and hints and health bars> Again going to the options menu allowed me to change this, however would have liked to have a constant health bar for just me and not everyone.
As for mechanics, I found the grab option to be quite over powered, as with the chimera I could just grab on and slash away at it while the other pawn took most of the brunt of the attacks. Resulting in a quick and easy defeat.
Having played through the Griffin quest a few times, I felt the first time to be quite easy, but a few more playthroughs and each outcome was different.
The first time I played I had defeated the Griffin before night fell, but the 2nd time it took me a long time and a lot of healing. So the AI seems to have changed slightly, either that I had a bad run.
But no thoroughly enjoyed it and the Pawn system is intriguing, I like it.
Wish I had seen more world content.
Extremely disappointed with Capcon's decision to still use disc based DLC on this game due to it having the lame excuse of 'planned early in development'.
However still keeping my pre-order, can't wait till Monday I think it is?
Prolly gonna run Mage, as with any game. (However in DA2 this felt abit odd due to the massive ammount of Templers seeming to ignore an apostate)
EDIT: I'm liking the sound of the Ur-Dragon, however knowing my luck, I'll probably be like 5dmg away from killing it when someone else gets the kill :/

Like, Ghost-Rhayne, I will wait until it's cheaper. The whole Medieval setting is saturated so my interest has faded.

It seems like it is trying to be an easier Demon's Souls. The look is similar but the combat is a bit different. Didn't hate the demo but didn't really overly enjoy it. I'm sure I'll get around to playing it at some point though.

I played it last night and it's not bad. Is it a must play? No, but the demo was slightly above average. However, I will probably wait to the price drops like the members above me. I just don't see myself spending a full $60 on this one.

after i did my 2nd go with the demo which was slightly more enjoyable it still didnt draw me in, although the challenge and boss fight was more fun with only 1 ally/pawn in the chimera level. It really looks like a game that needs a sequel or something to really mature tbh. I might pick it up at some point, but not before it hits the bargain bin along with Asuras Wrath or something.

You pre-ordered something you're not sure about? lol
anyways controls was a bit messy for me and took me a good min to get full handle of the game. graphics arent bad at all. Ai isnt great but isnt bad maybe it'll show more use later on. overall ill get the game like when its 30 bucks.

Amazon dropped my copy off today to me while I am at work. Will post some impressions later tonight or tomorrow.
I am gonna make my main pawn be a mage (probably fire based), add me if you want to trade pawns sometime.

Awesome, awesome game. Put in 8 hours on the first day alone, time flew by.
Only two downfalls I see: Floral Delivery got cancelled when I went to teh capital, and it took far too long for my Strider to learn to dodge.
Contemplating making me a Magick Archer. Main pawn is a mage with a mostly thunder and fire spells. I wish I knew if I made my pawn well, not even sure if anyone is hiring the poor bastard.

I am loving the game too. I haven't been able to put in as much time into it as I would like though, but I'm definitely having a lot of fun so far. I'm planning on making a Magick Archer. I'll have to use your pawn sometime when I get a chance. I have two mages in my group so I'll just swap out one of them. My main pawn is a fighter, but since I haven't played too much, he's not too high of level yet. I love the pawn system so much though, I just think it's great being able to use characters other people created in your party instead of just ones that are already in the game, like in say, Dragon Age.

Metareview: Dragon's Dogma (60-85/100)
Source
We had some issues with Dragon's Dogma. Ok, we had more than a few issues, calling it "50 or so hours of mundane drudgery" in our review. That doesn't mean our opinion is the only one that matters. There's a whole internet out there with glowing reviews. Maybe not "glowing," but certainly more accepting.
- Game Informer (85/100): "Combat feels like a necessary part of the game's design, rather than something that was begrudgingly added to provide interaction between cutscenes. I left the game feeling that I made my mark on Gransys the way I chose to, instead of being escorted from plot point to plot point. When you're talking about an open-world game, I can't think of higher praise."
- Destructoid (75/100): "Should you play Dragon's Dogma? Yes. The high points are so very worth getting to, and while the main game will be cleared in a number of hours, there are lots of monsters to battle and a dose of end-game content to clear, providing more than enough to rival the Skyrims and Diablos of the world."
- Eurogamer (70/100): "Expectedly, coming as it does from an action game developer, its jewels are to be found in the dynamic combat, stat-tweaking party-building and defining boss battles. In this way, the game echoes the adventurous, dragon-hunting spirit of its (second- and third-hand) literary influences: that sense of unpredictable peril that could be lurking in every cave and thicket. "
- OXM (60/100): "Dragon's Dogma has its merits, but for every great idea there's a design fumble that just leaves you scratching your head. Though it's technically sound, the game lacks the spark to elevate it beyond a "sometimes fun, mostly mediocre" experience. Much like the main character's chest cavity, this RPG ultimately feels hollow, with no real heart."

Joystiq was especially hard on the game. It's a love or hate kind of thing with this one.

Yeah I agree, I thought it was a horrible review. I mean I haven't played a ton of the game but it's definitely a lot better than they make it sound, and a lot better than a 40/100. I personally love it and think it does a lot of things really well, like the combat and the pawn system.

Dont get the reviews that complain about the controls,I think this game - a minimum - deserves at 8. I'm pretty much addicted to it, I put it in nearly 9 hours on the first day without even realizing it lol

I am disappointed there no talent system. Also I keep wondering to places I am not suppose to go yet and no clue I shouldn't be there and I die lol. Any way to tell enemy levels?

Hell yeah I pre-ordered a game I'm not sure about
Surprisingly games sell out fairly often here.
I ended up canceling it though, because I already have enough to play atm... and I'm also trying to save some money. So once I get through the games I've bought recently, Dragon's Dogma is my next purchase
I'm fairly confident I'll enjoy it because I'm hearing good things (aware of all the bugs) from people who I trust

Was doing an escort quest and ran into the dragon and got owned. Also had a few bandits kill me on way back to town. Am I doing something wrong like stuff I am not suppose to yet because this game seems very hard to me.
