Monthly Community Spotlight with gifts to our loyal followers

We want to reward our most loyal members, frequent contributors and most dedicated PlayStation gamers on the PSU forums.

Once a month we'll be hand-picking a member of the community to appear in a front page feature where their opinion gets to be heard.

Starting today, a PSU forum contributor will be chosen and contacted to appear in our Community Spotlight feature. You don't have to take part if you don't wish to, but if you do you'll be rewarded with a $10, £10 or 10 EURO PSN card. We'll basically ask you a question or two about a videogames topic. You guys are the real experts, we want to hear your opinions and let the world know about them too.

Your feature will appear on the main home page of PSU soon after.

We'd also love to hear your feedback about this idea.

Question: I know you said you were hand picking the member, but how are you picking? Will it be randomly out of some of the most frequent posters? Are you actually reading comments here and there, and picking those who have some of the more well thought out comments?

We really will be picking at random, so it is an incentive to ALL members to post well, often, and try to get noticed (in a good way)!

Good question Ray!

There's a few answers to that.

We'll be reading comments and looking for opinions that are relevant to today's hot topics that could lead to an interesting feature with their comments in the spotlight. It could be someone who has a particularly strong view on something, or it could be someone who has simply made a post that we feel is worthy to be featured on the homepage.

It may also be because a particular member has demonstrated a certain passion about a game. In which case they could be picked because we'd like them to share their expert opinion on it with the world.

There will also be times when we pick at random from our top posters as they've been contributing for years!

However, we also want to reward those who stick around and have contributed regularly too. So our forum mods will be keeping an eye out and recommending people because of their input.

We'd love to do this on a weekly basis because there's so many people deserving, and perhaps we could get to that stage at some point. We don't want anyone to think we value one person over another though. We're hoping that as many people as possible will get a chance. We'll post in the forums who that person is each month and give a reason why we choose them.

maybe some game developers could take note of this and involve the people who buy their games a little more...

this is also a good way of encouraging better quality posts (not that there aren't quality posters here already)and improving things as a whole..
