    Nintendo 2011/12 Financial Results $532M Loss

    Some highlights and lowlights:
    • $532M loss, lower than expected ($800M), first loss in Nintendo history
    • Forecast for next year is 18.5M 3DS, 2.5M DS & 10.5M Wii & Wii U
    • Since Launch DS (DS, DSi, DSi XL) has sold 151M hardware units & 900M pieces of software
    • Since launch Wii has sold 91M units & 818M pieces of software

    Still doomed? 3rd Party delayed until 2013?

    Yep, its because of the 3DS, the software doesn't quite seem to be making up for the hardware yet.

    Risk always costs.

    They made so much money with the DS brand it was only natural they'd use some of that to take the risk of 3D with the 3DS.
    I say well played, and I'm sure it will pay out in the future. Props to Nintendo.

    I wonder how different it would have been if they did not introduce the price cut ( and the sales stayed the same)

    Then more than likely that $500M loss would be closer to the $800M they forecasted. Cause the Mario games were always going to launch etc, which has helped Nintendo a lot. But the price cut was never intended, they were forced to react though.
