Yes you can blame them. They tried it once and failed and were stupid to make it exclusive in the first place. All i hear about is FF7 remake and they sit on their asses and say no and rather spend money on stupid projects that never fully churn out.

Another "stupid project" they've put a lot of money into happens to be Final Fantasy Versus XIII. A remake of Final Fantasy VII wouldn't be any better for the company. Just because the original performed so well doesn't mean Square Enix, or anyone else for that matter, can repeat the same success with a remake.
