Glad you're doing ok. The fact that ypu recognize you say the wrong things sometimes is good.

Update:
I'm been going through a lot of therapy with the psychologists. They have been extremely helpful for me throughout all of this. I've been in a group that is made up of others that have had brain injuries. Until recently, I was the "newest" member of this support group. It's been a great experience, at the same time being troublesome for me. I've only been past the accident for six months to this day. The closest to that in our group is two and a half years. A new member joined us this past week. He has been a cop in New York for 24 years. His accident was 12 years ago. These members in the group help out a lot. They have had a lot of the problems I've had and still have at some degree. They give suggestions and information that has helped them heal and cope with different problems that are affecting me to this day.
My most recent neuro eval... it was a LONG day to say the least. It was seven and a half hours long. It took about two weeks for the head neuro dr to gather all the data from the results, as well as all the data from the past five months (since before the last eval). When I met with him, and a few other dr's. They have basically determined that the progress has been extremely good in some areas, but there have been increased impairment in other areas. There were several variable results and they think it'll be something that can be addressed with more time with the therapy. There doesn't seem to be any further damage on my brain. The area, frontal lobe, has a mildly damaged area that will affect me to a point in crucial areas that were pertinent to my job. As far as returning to work, I'll never be able to be in that patrol car again. I'll never be in that uniform again. I'm officially retiring. All the red tape has been crossed, and just waiting for the approval from my retirement system. It is emotionally killing me to know that I'll won't be in the same capacity to help others in the ways I was able to before. I won't be able to make sure everyone is treated right. It's tearing me apart in some fashion.
I'm living, and at times, things are getting better. Some days aren't as good as others, but I'm learning to adjust and cope with it better.
I had to read the entire thread again. Some of it I can remember, and some of it I couldn't find in my head. So, I wanted to give everyone a very respectful thank you for all the support.

Good to know that things for you are getting slightly better and that the status of your brain is improving. Its a shame retiring from a job, especially when the cause was an accident like yours but i think that everything will go along alright.

Look on the bright side: you'll have more time for vidya

But really, considering how rare it is for someone to love their job, I'm gutted for you.

I believe that even though you won't be putting on your uniform again, you can still find other ways to help people. Keep us updated and be well!

Your wife went through a lot also. Reading all this and then some in the Shoutbox from you is heart breaking. I honestly don't know what to say other then continue life how you feel is right.

F34R its hard for me personally to see stuff like this. I'm just happy to see you doing better and being active on the forums. Like its been said before it couldve been worse and you still here for a reason.
Ill continue to pray for your improvement and for your family thru these tough times.

Coulda been my wife posting a last time under my name...
Thanks for the support. We appreciate it from everyone, deeply. (silver, that's deeply "emotion", not what you'd like
