Hi everyone, I have a question about SOCOM 4. I saw it for sale at Wal Mart for 20 USD, and I was wondering if its worth getting. To help give everyone some perspective, I was a big SOCOM fan on PS2. I played all of the old games, but I really loved the original and the third games, due to the tactical, cat and mouse gameplay. The second one was fun as well, but I didn't like the people who used the M14 all the time for cheap easy kills. I've only dug into the campaign in the first game. I bought the PS3 Knockoff game, and I did have fun with it, but it never felt quite right. Anyone who has SOCOM 4, would you recommend it to a series vet? If it has a lousy online, but a fun campaign, I can get some enjoyment out for 20 bucks. I also have the PS move, so if its good with move, I'd buy it as well.

Is SOCOM 4 worth 20 bucks?
During E3 I check out the booth babes, and if that's wrong...then maybe I'm missing the point of E3

i liked the single player, but the MP wasn't very good. the co op was pretty fun. i'd say it's worth it. though it is nowhere near as good as the oldies

It was an okay single player experience. I can't make any promises on multiplayer though.

Don't bother. This game is a travesty and I'm sure any respectful classic SOCOM fan would agree. I'd recommend Confrontation but by now that game is overrun by hackers.

Yes. I've been a SOCOM fan since game one, day one, and I enjoy S4. The single player campaign is just ok, but I really enjoy the multiplayer, both co-op and competitive. I don't understand why people hate on this game like they do. I recently started playing it online again and had enough fun to buy the DLC Demolition mode. S4 is different from the old games, but if you don't fear change it's a good online game.

nope playing it now, just like socom 2 and previous socom titles, hackers and cheaters are voted (unless they freeze room) immediately. confrontation is the only thing that resembles a socom title on the ps3 right now....as for socom 4? save your money and put it towards max payne or something else
^^^they should have named it unit 13! that would have been a better title than putting the socom brand on it and the game does not resemble socom at allLast edited by YoungMullah88; 05-02-2012 at 23:45.

confrontation is better
It seems as if every other Spartan in the Halo universe is cooler and more interesting than Master Chief, yet they all died at the beginning of Halo 1.

Maybe I'll just get a used copy for 5-10 bucks since most people weren't too thrilled with the game, and those that were note that SOCOM fans won't like it

20 dollars? That's about 12 pounds?
Yep it's worth that, SP is worth a blast, and I suppose if you don't play the multiplayer expecting Socom ya'll be ok

As a SOCOM game, no. If you think of the game as a different IP, then yes its worth it.
This is how I feel even at the $60 price that I paid.

In my opinion: no. There're simply outstanding titles from a year ago that currently retail for 20 or so USD.

Anyway, I decided to get Saint's Row The Third instead. Its pretty pricey, but a ton of fun. Sorry SOCOM. I'll always remember the good times we had.
