This COULD be a great deal, depending what other subscriptions are included.

Exclusive: $99 Xbox 360 + Kinect bundle launching next week with two-year subscription
Microsoft is planning to launch a $99 Xbox console package with a monthly subscription as early as next week, according to our sources. The software giant will offer the 4GB console with a Kinect sensor at its range of Microsoft Stores in the US, subsidized with a monthly cost of $15. We're told that the two-year subscription will provide access to the Xbox Live Gold service and possibly some additional streaming content from cable providers or sports package providers. Customers who sign-up for the deal will also be covered under a two-year warranty.
There will be an early termination fee for those wishing to break the contract ahead of its two-year duration, and we understand that Microsoft will position the package as a competitor to Apple TV, Roku, and PlayStation 3. For those buying the bundle now and getting the cheapest two-year Xbox Live Gold option, that's about $299.00 + $120 = $420 vs. $459 over a duration of two years. With E3 2012 on the horizon, and Microsoft working on a "Woodstock" music service — it's clear that the company wants to ensure as many people as possible have an Xbox in their living rooms.

It all depends on what subscriptions are included.
I have no idea how you can say that without knowing what is included. It could be shit or could be great. If it would included Netflix Streaming and say The Woodstock Music, those 2 and Live would make this a very good deal.

So … it's basically like the kind of financing you can get at any store.
But MS wants you to pay a total of $460 for two years of XBL and a $200 Xbox/Kinect bundle. Okay.

I can almost guarantee that this is a trial run for next gen.
And it seems like a crap deal for a system we all own, some of us even having more than 1, but for someone waiting for a price drop this looks like a good buy because he can afford $99 up front and he can afford $15 a month.
Imagine if the Playstation 3 launched at $299 with a 2 year contract and a premiere PSN membership getting you first access to all new PSN features or something like that.
I would say Playstation would have dominated this generation hands down.
could MS launch a next gen Xbox at $299 or even $250 with a contract getting you a special Live package plan, and ease your mind about a red ring scare, with a return and replace at authorized dealer location tag line.

You Americans with your subscription based services!

I doubt Netflix subscription would be included. It would be 'unlocked' if you are a subscriber, meaning as long as you have a separate Netflix subscription and have got the Xbox subscription package, you can stream Netflix.
I guess I will be surprised if it is included....

You're right. But until we know what is included it's tough to tell if this is a good deal or not. If could end up being a bad deal but we won't be able to judge until we get all of the details.
I'm very curious to see what they're going to include.
