Starhawk first impressions

LOVE this game. I love the art style and the arcade feel to it. I'm just going through the SP at the moment, about an hour in but I love this game. The hawks are still a bit awkward for me to fly but the rest of the controls are perfect for me and the hawks will get better in time. I love the build and battle system, it adds a whole new dimension to the game and is technically one of the most innovative marriages of 2 genres I have ever seen.

I suggest putting the Flight Mode on 'Advanced' its much better, and actually I found that lowering the camera sensitivity helps too

Ahhh thanks, that's better.

I love this game. It's titles like Starhawk that help define the character of the console. It's sooo much fun and as a whole is a very solid and interesting package. Another job well done by ole Sony.

I okayed a good hour of this so far.. Haven't had much time other wise but so far the sp gameplay is good and solid but the cutscenes are losing me.... Not really liking the style they went in... Hmm maybe it will grow on me as I go along but right now I think if I can skip them I will

There are some interesting opinions in this thread.

I'm in two minds about picking this game up but did think Warhawk was awesome.

On a sidenote, I notice there is an online pass on the Playstation Store, presumably this is for if you're getting the game pre-owned?

I thought the hit detection on the beta was terrible. Did they do anything to fix that or does it still take like a million bullets to kill someone hopping around.

you can kill your enemy with less that a half clip of a assault rifle. but amount of bellets you spent depends from how accurate you are. its not cod, bf, or any other modern type shooter

Got the game yesterday and jumped staight into multiplayer. Not a good idea got my ass handed to me for the night.. Last few games I played when I had figured out everything were decent! That said I love this game cannot wait to get home and play it again

Was just in a game, and I was doing really well, was top of my team. The only reason I was though was because it was a game of CTF and as I found in the previous team, my side didn't know how to defend and I sat back and created loads of beams and the turrets, which essentially got me loads of kills, so I had lots of points and was going to finish with a great total; what does the host do? He kicks me?! Just because my team was winning and I got a kill on him (I assume it was him) in a Hawk as he tried to Hawk spam me and land near me and attack me.

I RPGed the dick and got the kill so I got kicked from the server, just because I was better than him. Eurrgh how annoying, might start making my own servers so I can be in decent slow paced games as opposed to those where Hawks are on your asshole from the word go.

Really getting into it though, I just hate games where the company doesn't make their own servers (They don't have their own servers do they?) I always wind up being kicked whether it's BF3 or Starhawk and I then lose all my XP I have earnt /rant.

I'm playing the SP campaign right now and I'm really enjoying it. Once I finish the campaign I'll jump into the MP. Awesome game.

It's much better IMHO. The marriage of build and battle and the arcade like competitive play is awesome. It's so much fun when the match starts and everyone drop pods down, then the base starts falling from the sky and everyone jumps on bikes and hawks. The art style is nice and the maps look really cool imho. It will be my staple MP game for some time, along with Twisted Metal when it arrives. I recommend this game!

That's all online shooters, you get like 70% of noncontribute people and then you get the 30% that help

So I've finished the campaign now, on Mercenary too. Pretty hard stuff but damn, it definitely helps with your online skills I recommend it, if not on Merc at least play through it before you jump into multiplayer. it helps.

So yeah I've just been playing MP for the last few hours and its a BLAST. I don't care about my kill/death ratio or how many kills I get or any of that crap. As long as I'm having fun and working towards the objectives and getting points I'm happy.

My first MP kills EVER was me flying into an enemy base in Zones, transforming into a Mech and then stomping. That stomp killed 5 enemies at once! >< Best

Was just in a few wicked games! really great fun, helping my team to victory was great fun.

Mate what's your add? I'm looking for more with the game, I find it's more fun knowing there is someone you know helping out

I dont find it any different than playing on Xbox Live except that theres no cross game voice chat. Other than that the experience is basically the same imo. Online play is online play. Just my opinion though.

I was the same until BF3 came out. I am still mostly a SP kinda guy, but some games are really fun and exciting online. Starhawk is a prime example.

Yeah I'm not that great either. But if I keep playing I start to get into a mode and then I start doing pretty good. But it takes a few matches before I get into the groove of things. I am more of a SP guy though.
