Soul Sacrifice teaser video, screenshots and concept art. [update] Gameplay Footage!

Famitsu has posted various screenshots and artwork from Keiji Inafune and Marvelous Entertainment’s Vita title, Soul Sacrifice. The art looks like it was pulled straight from the worst nightmare Durante degli Alighieri could have ever had. The game takes place inside the Golem Book which is filled with monsters the player must battle – all of which were at one time human before they overdid it on the magic use. Some more information on the game:

Early magazine leaks out of Japan have revealed Vita title Soul Sacrifice as the next project from Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune.

Andriasang‘s reliable sources report the game is being developed by Marvelous AQL, in collaboration with Inafune, Yasunori Mitsuda and Wataru Hokoyama.

The Vita exclusive is expected to release in northern winter and support up to four players.

It’s not yet clear what kind of game Soul Sacrifice is, but the central conceit seems to be a magic mechanic whereby players must trade in valuables in order to use spells.

The sources mention stones and trees can by used for small spells, but for summons, the character’s own body parts are required; fingers will net you a gleipnir, while eyes can bring a gorgon.

More details are expected shortly, as Famitsu is said to have a seven-page feature, and Sony will officially debut the game at the Tokyo International Forum tomorrow.

I'm keeping an eye on this one. While I dislike Inafune for his derpy comments about the Japanese market, the fact that Yasunori Mitsuda is doing the music is a huge, HUGE plus.

Seems like a kick ass Monster Hunter-ish game, with a touch of Dark Souls here and there. Very, VERY excited for this! Bring it on Inafune!!!

Definitely. Chrono Cross and Xenogears showcase some of his best work.

The Souls series is one my favorite series of all time. I have yet to play a good RPG for the Vita, as in i literally havent even play an RPG, so this would be awesome. Put this in with Gravity Rush, Resistance, and... LEGO Batman 2... and the Vitas future looks awesome. =)

The main character kind of looks like Raven from Tekken. Same stance, as well. This game does look awesome, though, if the screenshots are anything to go by. I'm eager to see more of it in action.

Actually, Dante's Inferno was the first thing I thought about when I saw the screens. This is also a day 1 purchase for me.
