Good to see PS3 has done so well despite the flooding in Thailand which impacted the efficiency of Sony's operation.
But To think they are going to sell 16M Handhelds (PSP and Vita), well I'd like some of what they are smoking! Unless of course, they have some stellar software under wraps that is really going to shift those machines. Cause at the moment, it's no where near that figure if it carried on selling how it is.

Playstation 2 sold over 4 million units in 2011.. How is it still selling so many units?!.
That being said, Playstation hardware sold less then 2010 but despite that, it outsold the competition. Interesting outcome on Sony's part but I'm more impressed by the 3DS' performance. Now I wonder how the Vita will fair in this fiscal year.

PS2 is cheap and really popular in developing countries for that reason. Plus, it has one hell of a selection of games. It will be around for a few years yet trust me!

Hmm, kaz has his work cut out for him, but I dare say we will see such figures for another year or 2 before the turn around really kicks in. As long as Sony keep releasing the games I don't really give a shit how much they are making or losing.

05-10-2012 #11Sony hit hard in FY2012 financials, PS3 sales down
Sony has been hit by an annual loss of ¥456.7 billion ($5.74 billion) in comparison to the ¥259.6 billion loss last year, with PS3 sales also down.

For Q4 FY2012, a ¥255 billion yen ($3.2 billion) loss was reported.
The Consumer Products and Services division, the branch the PlayStation business falls into, has made a ¥229.8 billion ($2.8 billion) loss compared to the ¥10.8 billion profit for the same period last year.
Sales were also down by 18.5% to ¥3.13 trillion ($38.2 billion) within all parts of the group. Lower sales of PS2 and PS3′s price-cut last August at gamescom were noted within the CPS group.
Worldwide PS3 hardware sales are down for the year to 13.9 million from 14.3 million in the same period in 2011. PSP is also down by 1.2 million to 6.8 million from 8 million, while PS2 sales are down 4.1 million from 6.4 in 2011.
Software for PS3 is up, though, to 156.6 million units sold worldwide from the 147.9 million in the same period last year. PSP is down to 32.2 million units from 46.6 million units in FY2011 and PS2 is down at 7.9 million units from 16.4 million units.
Vita sales weren’t given in the report, but Sony’s forecasted a combined 16 million sales worldwide for Vita and PSP for FY2013.
The same figure has been given to PS3 and PS2 combined. Sony’s prediction for software for FY2013 is largely the same as it was for this FY at 196.7 million.http://www.vg247.com/2012/05/10/sony...s3-sales-down/

Impressive performance for the PS3 considering the PSN fiasco last year. Not surprised though!

Yeah we heard you the first time. lol Anyway like Ghost said Sony is still kicking out those games and thats good for me. And the PS3 userbase is still not far behind its direct rival http://www.examiner.com/article/sony...d-sale-figures. As for the Vita its in need of a price drop and some compelling software to boost those sales. Uncharted cant carry it forever.

Yeah I know. Really good performance as console sales all round are down, particularly in 2012 so far. Man, can't stop the PS3 though, beast

LOL I don't care about last place or profits, Sony is 1st place in games and that's all I care about. Haven't figured out how to stick Sony's sales figures into my PS3 to have a play at them, however, with 20 games on show at E3, including Vita and some core Move titles, Sony is kicking ass on all fronts. When I become a shareholder, then I'll give a fuck about sales. While I'm a gamer, kicking ass will equate to supplying me with games.

LOL I don't care about last place or profits either. I was just pointing out that you said they were kicking ass on all fronts. For me, Sony and MS are in first place for games and that is all I care about as well.
For me, it's all about the games boyz. Doesn't matter if they shit diamonds, so long as the games are fun.

never cared about Sega and their financial woes, till they folded and i still think that Sega going down was one of the biggest losses to the gaming industry. Bottom line is that Sony need to start making a profit or somewhere down the line they are going to make some cuts. It may not influence the next generation seeing that most of the planning for that was in the works way before, but going forward it could have some major implications on various segments of their business, and as a consumer that is where one starts to get worried especially if one is major consumer of part or all of their products.

Good to see the PS3 doing well. Inn not too worried about the future, Kaz seems to know what he's doing. I'm actually more excited seeing how they will be focusing more on the products that work. Gaming being one of them, interested to see what they will do.
Anyone been seeing more Sony commercials lately? I've been seeing the camera and tablet commercials a lot.
