Isn't it still $250 in the US? If so, nice - with a price cut on the horizon hitting the magical $199 will shift a ton of PS3s. There's millions of people out there that'll wanna hop on the PS3 train once it comes down a bit. We saw it with Sony's system last gen and we'll see it again this gen, and you can bet it will continue to sell very well once PS4 is out too!
Oh, I know why..

I thought sales didn't matter.

If you're referring to my post in the other thread, I was talking mostly about profits of Sony. At the end of the day, profits still don't matter to me but it's good to see that the PS3 is still able to pull in more consumers, the higher install base Sony has with the PS3 the more likely it is that they will continue giving us what we want

So in November it was a 2 million gap:

So the Xbox made up 1.3 million units since then. My guess is that it's time for a price drop with the PS3 starting to fall back.

Not me:

Directly, sales/profits don't affect me, was the point I've been making throughout the thread (must be the 3rd time posting this now).
What I find funny is you know exactly whose gonna come into these threads and try to downplay Sony, its hilarious.

Lol. Not you. But you are right about the usual suspects. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum seem to have banded together and are now joined at the hip. It's like they're in love with all of the +repping back and forth.
Profit/sales do matter though. If a console isn't selling well devs will shy away from it. If devs see that genre "A" doesn't sell on console "Y" they will shy away from developing that genre on the console.
For someone to come out and unilaterally make a statement that sales don't matter, it is very naive and short-sighted. It's more than just stature to have the better selling console.

sales are important, kind of. interesting is probably a better word.
i'm not sure why the gap is now days. realistically looking at the gap over 6 or 7 years just muddies the waters. looking at month on month differences is interesting, looking at lifetime sales isn't really. who cares if sony is behind? as long as sales are good, and sony are getting their reward for their line up.
the whole 'gap' thing is just a way to get hits on sites imo.Got YLOD? In the UK? I'll buy it off you.
