They are plastic so they shouldn't, maybe if you try really hard. Haven't tested it myself though.

Australia seems to have polymer notes as well, this vid was uploaded back in 2008, so not sure how long they have been using them...

For me the US Bills are by far the Best i've seen . Great design.

Makes it easier to know what money you have so you are less likely to give the wrong one out or accept the wrong one when receiving change.

Late to the show Canada, Australia's been doing it first since the 90's I believe? That's not to say that they don't look like, because they do...but call me old fashioned because I still prefer paper over plastic.

You really have to try hard to find a shop or service that doesn't take cards over here.

You got to love the €500 euro note though, that's like $635 or £400. That's a lot of money on a single piece of paper.

During the depression people had to spend lots to get very little in return just like in Germany of the same era people were litterally burning money to keep them warm.
i thought perhaps it was a similar situation in USA what other need of such a large note is there.

As a cashier, this would make it easier for us to spot counterfeits. Those are some nice bills and I would like to see something similar in the US personally.

No, that wasn't the case for the USA. The value of the dollar didn't change much. It was just that people didn't have any money to live off of.
