spryde gets my vote, the splatter/explosion effect going on here is amazing, especially the sense of depth within it!

I had to give it to spy for two reasons: a. the effects b. for using a male. I almost went in that direction but I just couldn't find a good enough picture of Joseph Gordon-Levitt I wanted to use.

Pod.

Very constructive MC...
and I would have expected CC after the fact you mentioned the rest were 'low quality' otherwise you could have just left that out, rather than taking a fly dig at other people's efforts
either that you just have a thing for Scarlett.Last edited by Scrubs42; 05-16-2012 at 20:11.

Really sorry if it came out as discouraging which wasn't my intent.
I meant LQ in the sense the image quality of most of the sigs, they seem quite low to my eye.Might just be me, but in a deeper sense i could say some of the sigs could really gain from looking at some decent tut's is all text is off in quite a few sig, the sig by pod has a artistic filter which is a big no no for bignners ,i can go on but i am running short on time...again sorry if i offended you.

It's cool man, wasn't trying to hit you hard, sorry if that's how I sounded. Just thought that a few of us would like to gain some extra knowledge or critique. But totally understand what you mean about time (sorry) it's very easy to come to the voting thread and say to yourself, 'I'll add more critique later' I know I do it myself. Sometimes it's hard to word stuff correctly too, so I'd rather not.
I can understand your dilema about poor image quality, which can dampen the signature's effects and clarity quite badly. I made two signatures for this one, however I opted for this one, and looking back I over-sharpened resulting in bad quality. [The reason for not choosing my other option was due to the colour scheme, I felt I had used this colour scheme far too much and wanted variation]
In regards to Pod's sig, I agree about the background using the filter (i can't remember the name of the filter is it Paper cut out or something?) and maybe it could have been made more transparent to reveal some more work done in the background, on what looks like could have been some splatter displacement? However the render itself stumped me. I feel the colours are far too vibrant and solid to be a photograph, however the render itself is too smooth and detailed to be that similar effect used in the background. I was tempted to believe it could have been a vector work, although had no indication from Pod in the submission thread whether it was or not. Or some variation of a few techniques.
But we're cool man, hope to see you submit to sprite thread... I was stuck for ideas and flung something together. Sprites are quite hard as there very small... :/

I wouldn't say I'm totally new but I hadn't done this look before.
All it is is 3 layers at different settings. One was some kind of watercolor/paint brush something. I think after that all I did was duplicate that watercolor layer and then set it to different filters. I erased a lot of all three layers right around the render(because the filters were applied to the render itself as well). It looked kid of blurry and distorted to me without erasing on the render but I didn't erase completely so the stock was smoothed out a bit. The yellow isn't splatter brushes it's just a standard circle brush that was distorted by the filters.
I usually don't even bother with text because I can never find anything that fits right. I'm not fond of it here. It could probably use a few improvements. It's fine if other people don't like it but I do like it. It's boring to me getting a render and throwing on some C4D's and filters all the time. I need to do something different.

We could end up with a tiebreaker for this one.
