Sony: "No news" on E3 showing for The Last Guardian

Sony has refused to clarify if The Last Guardian is to make an appearance at E3 next month.

It confirmed in a statement it was continuing work on the Team ICO game, which has been dogged by delays and departures of senior devs from the developer, including boss Fumito Ueda.

But it added it couldn’t confirm an appearance in Los Angeles in three weeks.

“The Last Guardian continues to be developed, however we have no news to share at this time with regard to the franchise and E3.” it said, tweeted out by Game Informer’s news editor Jim Reilly.

Guardian was unveiled at Sony’s E3 2009 press conference, but has only made two trade appearances since then, both at Tokyo Game Show in 2009 and 2010.

The game hasn’t been seen since early 2011 when previews came out around the time of the Vita unveil last January. Sony WWS head Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed Sony Santa Monica, among others, are now helping to finish development on the game.

I've always thought we would see the game again at TGS.

Interesting. No news regarding the game and E3. Then maybe we'll see something ok TGS. I'm hoping the release is near seeing how other devs have been helping out. Only time will tell

I think TGS would be a more appropriate venue to show this game anyway.

I think it's smarter to show the game off at E3 unless they don't have any plans to release it until late next year.

Add this one next to FF VS XIII on the cancel list, guess they're just afraid to let the people know the games have been cancelled.

What reason would they have for cancelling them? Both games (The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy Versus XIII) are most likely looking at a 2013 release. I wouldn't worry, unless they won't be showing the games at TGS either.

Why announce anything before e3 anyways... Sony keeping quiet is most likely best untill they want to reveal anything at upcoming shows

It wasn't long that Sony sent in teams from Santa Monica to assist Team Ico with the development of, The Last Guardian. I don't know where people are getting the notion of it being cancelled.

There is still hope for a Last of Us gameplay stage demo.
There will probably be tons of Vita stuff if you are into that and most likely move junk.

This game dropped off my radar, not that I don't like it but this damn game has been in development since what 2005? 2006? Not to be impatient but either finish it or or let it go. These waits only end up hurting a game. If it's not perfect people complain after all this time, and I don't blame them much.

If I have to go through this gen without a decent football game (American) AND The loss of this game I will consider this gen an absolute failure. Yes, some good games but nothing like the last 2 gens. We had exclusives that were well coded and built and those were generally great games (Uncharted, MGS4, GOW3, VC, HR, LBP etc...) and then some exclusives that failed (Haze, etc). Multi-plats were almost universally gimped on the PS3 side until around last year and some still are today. The heavy hitting multi-plats (GTA, RDR, etc) were fine but held back by the limitations of the 360.

Basically, if I lose this game.....I will dig myself a gamers grave and just dive into it. LOL. My most wanted game for the last 5 years now and by far. Even if released, anything short of Ico and SotC levels will cause great suffering to my gamer soul. haha
