The Last of Us new trailer, The Truck Ambush

Naughty Dog’s risen from underground with the first new trailer for The Last of Us since its VGAs reveal last year. The video shows Joel and Ellie ambushed by hunters, as previously detailed by the developer. IGN has it here. We can’t embed it, so you’re just gonna have to hit the link.

It’s out either at the end of this year or next year for PS3.

I remember reading about this particular area in the game. I hope it comes out in 2013 because the end of the year is packed already. Plus it gives them more time to polish up the game. 2013 will hopefully send the ps3 out with a bang.

ND use ingame assets and pre-render the cutscens with a farm of PS3's do the work, its rendered on multiple PS3's then converted to a movie. So its a cutscene, not actual "in game" rendered.
Extra effects such as subsurface scattering, atmosphere effects, decent AA etc are all added.
Models generally are the same, not so sure about the textures though.

Looks pre rendered to me but hell I said that about some scenes in U2 and I was wrong, so I wouldn't put it past ND for this to be ingame render.

According to IGN it's of course a third person action game like Uncharted, but it is more brutal than Uncharted. Melees and kills are bloodier, ammo is scarce, you use weapons like 2 x 4's to bash in people's skulls. Stealth kills aren't quick and clean with witty remarks like Uncharted, they're slow and the people fight for their lives.
