SourceDoom 3 BFG Edition, a re-mastered and expanded version of Doom 3, will be released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this autumn, developer id Software has announced.
The new version includes the original Doom and Doom 2, plus The Lost Mission, a never-before-seen single-player story for Doom 3 spread over seven fresh levels.
Re-mastered graphics, support for 3D and head-mounted displays, 5.1 surround sound, improved rendering and lighting will also feature.
Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will, naturally, include Achievements/Trophies.
There's also a new checkpoint save system for "smoother progression" through the game, plus an armour-mounted flashlight, allowing players to illuminate dark corners and kill enemies at the same time.
"Doom 3 was enthusiastically embraced by gamers worldwide at its release," id Software boss John Carmack explained. "Today, the full experience has been enhanced and extended to be better than ever, and is delivered across all the platforms with a silky smooth frame rate and highly responsive controls."
"New support for 3D TVs, monitors, and head mounted displays also allows players to experience the game with more depth than ever before. We think shooter fans everywhere will love it."

Doom, Doom 2, remastered Doom 3, The Lost Mission and trophies? YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Day 1. Started on games like this, Wolfenstein and Quake, Duke, Blood and others. Haven't played a Doom game in years, so for me this will be a superb package.

Yeah it's slightly better, but not by much..anyway, I've never beaten doom 1 or 2 and it's been years since I beat Doom 3, but I loved that game. The wheelchair man and the spiders scared the shit out of me. The Hell levels were my favourite in the whole game because of how grotesque and gory they were. And those 7 extra levels, could they be leading up to Doom 4?

I never actually completed the game but it was alright. I'll just wait for Doom 4.
Sick trailer though. I love the title transition at the end.Steam & PlayStation Network: BlacksitePSU | 3DS Friend Code: 1349-4916-2054

Though this will be a first day buy for me, I do hope they include MP for at least D3. Although the SP is a lot of fun, MP D3 would bring back some old school id gaming that I've been missing on console.
...here's hoping for a remastered or revamped Quake collection (maybe for PS4!?!) =)

There was a really fun first person shooter set in Egypt (not Serious sam although it is classic as well, there was another earlier game). I can't remember the name of it but I remember loving it. Ring any bell anyone?

Heretic was awesoeme, Hexen was more hub based, I didnt like it so much.
Rise of the triad was based on the wolfenstien engine.
Herectic, Hexen, Doom 1, 2 all based on the Doom engine.
Shadow Warrior, and Duke Nukem were using the Duke Nukem engine.
And dont forget Dark Forces!

Was playing D3 on my PC the other day. Reminded me how good it is.
Might pick this up at the right price-point regardless of the checkpoint system. I'm thinking £14.99.
