If im correct AC II has two DLC that come free if you buy the platinum version of the game (14-15 £ new at Zavvi), and if it is essential for the storyline...probably yes.
This is not a spoiler but there are 12-15 memories to be playable, and at one point you jump from memory 11 and go straight to the memory 14 or something like that and the DLC are memory 12, 13, etc. The dlc fills the gaps.

Wow the pacing of this game is completely different, just got to the villa and met the uncle..assassinated that little punk from the beginning. lol.
Bought the DLC and installed it too...I don't think I like how they blatantly took parts out of the game though if they just skip over them if you don't have it.Trophy-licious!

I'll be interested to see how Ezio matures during these three games..I know he is pretty old in Revelations, and he seems pretty quick to temper in AC II so far. Wonder if he'll become as professional as Altair was in AC1.

Also..
"It'sa me Mario !!"
Such and easy joke, but I laughed so hard because it was that last thing I was expecting from an AC game.

I'm just about to start AC revelations now. Had it since release back in November but been trying to clear some of the back log of games I'd bought and I have a obsession of finishing a game off before starting another. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to getting stuck in to Revelations. I've enjoyed all the AC games and some parts leave me with goosebumps on my neck, they're amazing.
IMO the AC series this gen come a very close second to the Uncharted series for my favourite games. Every game in the ac series has been improved upon and the DLC is excellent value for money.
Think I might make a start now rather than rambling on

I wasn't expecting this, but I might actually end up platinuming AC2. I find myself doing all the sidestuff out of sheer enjoyment, which in most games isn't usually the case. For instance I really got a kick upgrading the villa and seeing how fast I could do it, now it generates so much cash for me I don't have to worry about having enough money for things anymore. I buy all the new paintings/armour/weapons the moment new ones become available.
The only thing I can see myself having bother with is the feathers because there doesn't seem to be maps available like there is with the treasures.
Just reached Venice in the storyline. Can't believe how many locations there are in this one compared to the first game.Trophy-licious!

Ended up 100%'ing AC2 myself too. It's a very engrossing game.

The feathers were a pain but there is plenty of maps on the net with their locations highlighted. I just printed 1 off and crossed them out 1 by 1 as I picked them up, pausing the game to see where I was on the map in relation to the feather guide. Took me an hour or so at the end of the game to collect them all. Worth doing if you want the plat

Yeah I suppose..though its gonna be a pain, I am collecting them as I see them. So if I use a map, I be trying to collect ones I already have. Please tell me Brotherhood doesn't have collectables like that.

I did use a guide for the statues at the Villa..though that only took like 10 mins cause there is only 8 of them.Trophy-licious!

Brotherhood has the feathers to collect, and flags too

Never collected them in the end, did all the other single player achievements though

I didn't like Revelations at first, but about a fourth into the game I realized it was my favorite so far. The only thing I didn't like was...

Just finished AC2 and also Platinumed it. Wow, the story got crazy at the end..
I am currently doing literally the final thing I have left to do in the entire game which is the Auditore family crypt I unlocked via the UPlay thing.
Dunno if I want to wait a while before starting Brotherhood..I bought it with II, but might take a break.Trophy-licious!
