Most of this may be true not sure about the GPU dual 8970.
Leam motion....That is what i allways wanted from Kinect - finger gestures
Инсайдер: What I have put here is 99% the real cpu/eapu specs.. This is Microsoft* goal. It is also what is available in the dev kits that are at E3.. If Microsoft show the Durango/720/8/loop this is what is behind these specs.. The final 2 gpu design final spec is not 100% known out of Microsoft rnd there target is HD8970 tech.* The cpu pic is the real durango cpu/eapu* but now that specs are leaking out over the next 4 days. It shows you the future.*
Durango cpu specs
SOI -28nm** 22nm by 2014
3.8ghz** -* 4.2ghz Turbo-core mode
4 SMT every core
1024 KiB L2 per core
8 VMX128 cores
120MiB EDRAM
There is 2 cores in every core. they are not stacked cores.*
Durango cpu is an ultra enhanced apu,
DX11.1- 12.1 Upgradeable core logic
"BASIC" Durango cpu can support 12- 32/64 bit 1080p Render Targets "back buffer"* 10/64 bits color and aa on all back buffers.* 2k* resolution* and beyond. Cpu/apu and gpu/s can access the EDRAM on the fly. A massive amount of system Ram is also available "more then orbis" (note: suddenly PS4 could have less ram then Durango)
As for Kinect 2 in regards to leap and laugh..* lets just say full 3D and you are an object*

AMD Radeon HD 8970?
Well, I'm not sure if it'll be affordable but it's better than the rumored 6670.Steam & PlayStation Network: BlacksitePSU | 3DS Friend Code: 1349-4916-2054

I have a feeling that Sony and Microsoft want to make their new consoles as powerful as possible to make them last for ages, much like they're doing now with PS3 and 360.

A dual 8970 debunks this.

And you know what? I truly don't mind! As long as everyone keeps putting amazing games, I'm as happy as I can be. Hell, if games like The Last of Us, Halo, The Witcher and Skyrim are possible with today's hardware, imagine the posibilities of tomorrow. Compare Resistance to Resistance 3 for example and they look like they were launched in different generations!

Looking very plausible although a bit on the "too good to be true" side
And yeah the article says that the two GPUs will reach a single 8970 performance

The PS3 and Xbox GPU were both the equivalent of a Geforce 7600GT (less half the power of the 7800GTX), and the Radeon HD8970 is dual GPU of AMD's flagship chip to be released in 2013. It's not possible for an HD8970 to be in a next gen console unless the next generation consoles release in late 2016.

I never said they were putting in the actual HD8790. All I said was that it's not possible for a 2013/2014 consoles to have the power equal to that of an HD8790. It's the truth. I already explained why it's not possible, but meh, whatever. :/

I think for me, more powerful consoles and longer console cycles is acceptable and preferable but only if certain conditions are met. Consoles are too closed off and forcing people to adhere to a finite set of options is pretty demeaning. There is some serious talent in the real world and refusing to allow the consumer to access the complete hardware setup for homebrew gaming, app creation and other user-created content is wrong in my honest opinion. It stifles competition which is sorely needed in this day and age. Honestly? I want consoles that are completely open so that we consumers get a better product experience.

If this were true I can't even imagine Sony's next gen. After they just said they don't plan on being first or the cheapest, their only objective is making it the best.

Yeah no way these consoles would have a 8970. Mainly because they tend to rely on their processors and not GPUs.
You see, madness, as you know, is like gravity. All it takes is a little push!

Xbox having the Unified Shader architecture doesn't actually have anything to do with the power of the GPU. It's impossible for a GPU like the HD8970 to fit into a 2013/2014 console and not explode on you. Just like how it was impossible for the Xbox 360 to house a 7950GX2 rather than the sub-7600GT is got stuck with. It's not possible. Trust me.

If I'm looking at the picture of the CPU die correctly, then it's a quad-core chip.
Probably a POWER7 derivative.

360 was relatively low risk compared to the PS3 when they both launched.
the PS3 was full to the eyeballs with new tech.
Microsoft seem to want to outdo this and flat out overkill Sony.
if these specs are similar to actual production models then sony can't go the new tech route and can only play on equal ground
its kinda sad in a way.
we'll end up with mini PC's, not consoles.
its all rumors but hopefully Sony manage something innovative, as Microsoft's console is turning out to be a beast

I don't agree with that. Like Sufi said, only ps3 placed more importance on the CPU.
Umm..why? Because of power consumption and heat?
Console gpu versions are similar to the mobile version of desktop GPUs and I think yesterday I read about gtx680M. So it only took a month for the mobile version to come out compared to the desktop counter part. Why would a 8000 series mobile equivalent not be compatible for consoles in late 2013-14?Last edited by itachi73378; 06-08-2012 at 05:55.
