    Criterion not abandoning Burnout franchise

Criterion hasn’t worked on a fully-fledged Burnout title since 2008′s fantastic Burnout Paradise. Since then, the UK-based studio has partnered with Electronic Arts to develop Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and the more recent Need for Speed: Most Wanted. The studio, however, has assured Burnout fans that the franchise will still be continued.

Speaking to OPM during E3, Criterion’s Matt Webster stressed that even though the Burnout series has been noticeably absent from the market, the company won’t abandon the iconic franchise:

"Burnout’s certainly not going away, no."

For those who can’t wait for more Burnout, Criterion recently said that Need for Speed: Most Wanted‘s return will feature the best “sh*t” of both Burnout Paradise, as well as Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted is currently scheduled for a release on October 30th in North America and November 2nd throughout Europe.

I honestly did not like Paradies open world map. I want more Burnout but I don't like the direction Paradise took. Will still look forward to another game.

I wouldn't mind seeing Criterion go back to how the Burnout games played before Paradise took on the open world approach. As long as they include a lot of intense single-player races, road rage events and whatnot then it should be a fun entry for the franchise.

yeah I do LOVE Paradise, but Revenge is still my favourite. That being said, I'd welcome any new Burnout game its one of the best racing series around. Good to see they aren't abandoning it completely. Hopefully they have something coming out early next gen

Sweet! Hoping to see another open world one like paradise, with maybe a little more direction when racing, always getting lost. And maybe some splitscreen action.

Loved Burnout Revenge but did not play Paradise much, may give it another go. Enjoying the hell out Ridge Racer Unbounded which takes a lot of the cool concepts from Burnout Revenge...

Paradise was a brilliant game. I'd love to see a sequel. However, my favourite Burnout game is this one:

The new most wanted is all good and all but i see a bad trend at EA, no 60fps for racing games is no buy for me.

60fps should be mandatory for racing games, especially Burnout or any Criterion game since we're used to see the games at 60fps.

I wish for more Burnout, Paradise was dope ! need more games like that !

I loved Burnout Revenge more than Paradise I just thought it was better a few less menu's and it would of been more better in Revenge
