PlayStation Plus survey considers unlocking Vita versions of PS3 games for free

There are a number of games that support crossplay on both Vita and PS3. Some games, like MotorStorm RC, include both the Vita and PS3 versions in one purchase. However, other games, like the recently-released Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection, require separate purchases to take advantage of any crossplay features.

It's unlikely many gamers are taking advantage of Vita's crossplay features with games that require multiple purchases. For example, if PlayStation All-Stars is fully priced on both Vita and PS3, gamers will have to pay over $100 for the luxury of playing one game across two platforms. That doesn't sound attractive--but Sony may have found a solution.

“Imagine that as part of PlayStation Plus, every time you bought a game on either PS3 or PS Vita, you would be entitled to get the game on the other console absolutely free," a new survey spotted by IGN reads. "So, if you bought Resistance on PS Vita, you could download Resistance on PS3 for free. Or if you got FIFA on PS3, you could download the PS Vita version for free.”

By unlocking free versions of the Vita game via PlayStation Plus, Sony would make it much easier for gamers to take advantage of crossplay features--and introduce Plus to Vita gamers. It gives gamers more reason to pay the $50 annual fee, and doesn't dilute the perceived value of the Vita version of games.

While the idea certainly sounds smart, ideas found in surveys don't necessarily come true. For example, Sony considered bundling Call of Duty Elite into PlayStation Plus. While that didn't come to fruition, PlayStation Plus did recently offer a large number of full retail games.

They better unlock all those games I paid for already! Bad idea to make us pay twice.

How would this work though? Would we have to buy the digital versions? I could just borrow a mates Battle Royale on PS3 and download it for my Vita...The only way I can think it would work is if Sony put some kind of code in the files of either the BR disc or Vita cartridge that somehow registered on PSN so if my mate already downloaded his battle Royale, if I tried it on mine, the discs code would be marked as redeemed.

I'm guessing this would work with the PS3 online pass thing unlocking the Vita version for download, or vice versa. The only problem occurs when you want both physical versions, since both digital is easy enough.

I'm happy enough getting physical games for the PS3 and DLing the Vita version. If I really want the physical version I'll just wait till it drops in price on amazin. (I'm a collector after all)

Gran Turismo Vita spotted in Sony customer survey

Gran Turismo publisher Sony has mentioned a PlayStation Vita incarnation of the game in a recent customer survey.

The questionnaire mentioned the title would be a Vita version of the latest Gran Turismo game: 2010's Gran Turismo 5 on PlayStation 3.

"You told us earlier how interested you would be in buying the PS Vita version of the latest Gran Turismo game," the survey (posted online by IGN) reads.

"Knowing that you might be able to get a discount on the PS3 version of the game, how interested are you now in the PS Vita version?"

The survey detailed other cross-platform offers for PlayStation Plus members, including a free copy of a game on PS3 when you buy it on Vita, and vice versa.

"Imagine that as part of PlayStation Plus, every time you bought a game on either PS3 or PS Vita, you would be entitled to get the game on the other console absolutely free. So, if you bought Resistance on PS Vita, you could download Resistance on PS3 for free. Or if you got FIFA on PS3, you could download the PS Vita version for free."

Sony is currently revamping its PlayStation Plus offering - a move that was similarly mentioned in an earlier customer survey.

Would be great if this actually happened but I'd prefer it if a Vita version would come included on the full retailed game instead of having to go through the trouble of paying for Plus. I can only dream.

GT on Vita will happen, just a case of when, and who. PD might not develop it. I don't think they should either. Give it to Evolution and Studio Liverpool.

    how it should work:

I buy the PS3 version of MGS HD Collection. It includes a PSN Code for the Vita version. And Vice-versa.

If they want to make it special for PS+ thats fine too... have the PSN code pop up a discounted version normally... (75% off) unless you have PS+, then its free... it doesnt get easier than that.

Then, people would sell codes and Sony/Publishers and Developers would get the shaft.

You might see a discount for buying the games together, that's about it.

I imagine they might continue to run bundle discounts like MLB the show where you got $20 off...maybe they would give even bigger discounts but I doubt they give away digital versions on vouchers and such because people already steal that stuff as it is or sell it. Perhaps dlc on vouchers or with psn free but I can't imagine just full free downloads too often except maybe for smaller psn games.

The digital should be easy enough. I guess for the physical they could just bundle games together at a reasonable price. Like they did with Killzone 3 and the digital camo controller. Payed 5 more that I would just getting the controller. They could charge about 70 to 80 for a bundle.
It seems as if every other Spartan in the Halo universe is cooler and more interesting than Master Chief, yet they all died at the beginning of Halo 1.

Is they do it right, I'm all for the Playstation Plus/Vita thing. I plan to get it in the future regardless.
