Well, I wish these big developers quit talking and just deliver us the games and let gamers enjoy there work.

CryEngine 3 looks amazing. But you can't help but get mixed feelings when you remember that these are the same people who recently announced that all of their future titles would follow the free-to-play model.

Either way, be it 2 years or 4 years
Bring out the damn games that run on these engines and let explore the next-generation experience

I can't disagree. Most everything I saw in the Unreal 4 Engine demo is already in CryEngine 3. I can't wait to see the next CryEngine. Says Very soon. I am thinking GDC/E3 2013 we see CryEngine 4 or well CryEngine Free2Play Engine unleashed. :P

Link: http://www.dsogaming.com/news/cryeng...d-mark-ranson/CryEngine 3 comes close to CG quality graphics with the works of Puppy and Mark Ranson

Normally, we’d include these screenshots in our weekly CryEngine 3 gallery but they’re so hot that we felt the need to share them with you as soon as possible. A lot of gamers think that CryEngine 3 is inferior to CryEngine 2 (because Crysis 1 looks better than Crysis 2), however CryEngine 3 can achieve CG quality graphics as can be seen by the works of modder Puppy and 3D artist Mark Ranson. We really hope that next-generation games will look this good and if you thought that Project CARS’ car models looked phenomenal, wait until you see the one created by Ranson. Enjoy!

This is cool and the detail is off the charts

There was 'leak' of slides from Crytek about forthcoming features on Cryengine3.
http://www.vgleaks.com/e3-2012-cryen...tion-leak-out/
Slides have some nice advances like.
Area lights with shadows. (lights can have shape and size, change affects specular shapes and so on.)
Pixel Accurate Displacement Mapping (pixel shader that creates displacement map which has 'correct' silhouettes etc.(I'm hoping for a correct ray/height map hit algorithm as well..))
New local reflections on water. (a new version of screen space reflections for water surfaces which blends to cubemap.)
GI with Glossy Reflections. (Improved version of their Propagation Volume/VPL GI, has component for a specular reflection.)Last edited by jlippone; 07-22-2012 at 17:55. Reason: Readability.

GDC 2013 is when I'm a full fledged live demo of CryEngine 3. I do agree with them though, it certainly is 'ahead' of UE4.
