There are a few websites reporting these documents. Good luck with all that MS. While these documents are being taken down MS PRfolks will have a written statement saying none of it is true.

Yeah.
But it won't change till the REAL name is given from Microsoft.
People are just labeling it that because of the double effect from previous consoles of power.
8bit
16bit
32bit
64bit
128bit
But the 360 had nothing to do with that following since the original Xbox was MS first console and was branded as such, but when the 360 came out, it couldn't be called Xbox2 because they didn't want to look inferior to Playstation3.
720 will remain (fans) and/or "code names" (devs), till MS announcement, i guess.
Wouldn't have the faintest in what they'll label the Next Gen one, but it'll be an exotic to remain equal and/or greater.
I remember back in the day well before 360 launch, there was a bald guy (forgot his name, Head MS Xbox360 devision) blabbing on about the design as to why they chose and the name.
Plus all the BS that followed. Hype building about total customization etc...
Anyway, I'm hoping both parties go for something original but still keeping to their roots and i hope, the Playstation 4 might also follow suit this time. Numbers (4) and tags (PS4) are starting to wear thin imo. Like Devs pushing out sequels ever year. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 etc *sigh...
I like the concept of changing in what MS did with Xbox then 360, but i didn't like the reasoning.
Hopefully Next Gens names will be kick ass to suit the power of the machines because quite frankly, surely graphics will be a beast of a sight.Do you know who i am.

Senior Editor at The Verge
550Hey guys.
Tom Warren here (Senior Editor at The Verge). I posted this story at The Verge yesterday. I just wanted to clear up a few things and address some points I've seen posted elsewhere etc. The Xbox 720 leak was covered by The Verge at The Verge, not Polygon at The Verge. I know the temporary home can be confusing at times, but thought it was important to point that out.
As for how we check these types of stories. I have been reporting on Microsoft for around 12 years now. That's not to say I know everything about Microsoft and its processes, but I have a fairly good idea of what is and isn't an internal doc usually after the first few pages. This document in question is from August 2010, prior to iOS 4.2 (mentioned in the PPT notes) and when certain team members (mentioned in doc notes) were still at the company in engineering roles. The document references several employees by name and uses one of Microsoft's internal "CSG_Pres" PowerPoint templates (an early example of their Metro style PowerPoint templates that are used regularly internally now).
Couple this with the fact it aligns with other information I've seen about Nextbox over the past year, it aligned perfectly. The document also references Microsoft's SmartGlass technology (announced at E3). I went through a number of other ways to verify the information was as accurate as other stories we would report on - I'm not going to outline the exact processes because I like to keep those secret
We make every attempt to ensure this type of data is accurate. I ran a number of stories ahead of this year's E3, and they were all accurate:
Microsoft to bring full Internet Explorer browsing to Xbox 360 with Kinect controls
Exclusive: Kinect Play Fit to offer universal exercise tracking with 'Joule' heart rate monitor
Exclusive: $99 Xbox 360 + Kinect bundle launching next week with two-year subscription
Exclusive: Microsoft to preview 'Woodstock' Xbox music service at E3
Hopefully this clears up any questions over how we vet this type of information. I don't typically report on Xbox or gaming news (its not my core knowledge) but I do enjoy reading Neogaf threads from time to time. You guys have an amazing community here so keep it up
Thanks,
Tom

Interesting. If this document is true and holds any weight on future strategy then it confirms a few things I suspected.
MS won't support the 360 much along side their next console. They will have the same focus on media (it states Apple and Google TV as threats). Their software focus will remain the same (GeoW, Fable, Halo listed as core titles) and they will jump on board with Blu-ray and adopt 3D. The windows 8 thing will be a benefit for the system and for developers.PSU GHOST SYNDICATE - DUST 514 Media HUB - Podcast - BLOG (Soon™)

Well there are millions of 360s in homes so why should they stop supporting it? There are new IPS on the way that will be exclusive to the next Xbox. Next year at Ces and GDC everything should start to unfold as what type of games coming and services. I do know MS has said that there will be no Kinect games in the first year of the new console.

Well, the slide said, under business needs and threats, "gen 7 (xbox 360) console business will decline in 2013". That to me says the start of the withdrawal of resources into 360. I don't think there will be any more exclusives other than those announced. I didn't mean that Live will be switched off
. Just that MS will let 360 do it's thing for those who have it and will turn their focus onto gen 8.

My problem with the name "Xbox 720" is that it forgoes any notion that Microsoft actually has a reason for giving their consoles these numbers. Xbox 360 sounds like a skateboarding trick, but early in development MS claimed that "360" in the name refers to the way the console unifies all audiences and entertainment options.
Xbox 720 would just be giving up and saying, yes, our consoles are named in the style of extreme sports tricks. There's just no reason for "720".

I spent over an hour trying to find that article and provide you the link. I read the article last year.
Going by the documents it makes sense the AR (kinect Glasses) releasing in 2014 a year after the console launch. They must have several Kinect games in development using these Glasses.

The reason why they dropped support on the first Xbox because it wasn't profitable at all. They were losing a million dollar per day on it. it would be a huge mistake if they stop supporting the 360 when it making profits for them. It is important they continue support because no telling how much of a loss MS Is taking on the next console with all those features and tech at that price 299.00.

They can deny it all they want, the only way for documents like these to be taken down so quickly is through the DMCA and in order to do that, you have to own the infringed intellectual property.
To order a "take down" you must provide at a minimum:
1-A physical or electronic signature (i.e., /s/NAME) of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the copyright that is allegedly infringed.
2-Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
3-Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient to permit the service provider to locate the material.
4-Information reasonably sufficient to permit the service provider to contact the complaining party, such as an address, telephone number, and, if available, an electronic mail address at which the complaining party may be contacted.
5-A statement that the complaining party has a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner.
6-A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that the complaining party is authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the copyright that is allegedly infringed.
Basically... MS "We own this shit, take it down NOW!!!"
I think that's pretty good indication that the documents ARE REAL!!! But let's not forget these are projections made at a certain point in time (2010 in this case) and can be changed over time. Hardware can change specs, road map can be pulled back or pushed forward depending on tech become available. Everything in those docs are subject to change. We would need more recent docs in order to see if the road map is still on schedule and if the hardware has not taken a performance hit or have been boosted since. When the Bogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.

the funniest thing about all this is how jeff_rigby (the guy who find this) just posted it in the PS4 rumor thread on NeoGaf all nonchalant & I clicked on it & was almost bouncing off the wall as I was reading it like do you not know what you just unearthed? lol
To me & the rest of the internet it was the day 56 pages of Xbox 3 info was leaked to jeff it was Friday.Last edited by ONQ; 06-18-2012 at 13:31.
