Remember not to discuss the details of the closed beta here as we're all under NDA.
However, feel free to share your tips.
My first tip would be to choose carefully which class you select each time you die. Base your choice on your position on the spawn point you choose and where it is in relation to the enemy.
For example, if I decide to spawn somewhere where there's lots of enemies that are nearby I'll choose the assault class so I can mow them down. However, if enemies are far away in the distance I'll choose recon to use the sniper rifle and slowly move up the battlefield.
Still a real noob at this, so would love to hear other people's tips.

Don't be overwhelmed when you look at the skills. This game has a very deep progression system and offers the flexibility to create the kind of character you want, so have a look over what's available and level up according to your usual play style. Although not so important in the beta, the idea of this system isn't to be a jack of all trades and master of none. Choosing a specialisation is important if you want to be effective in game.
Also, you donÄt have to walk around your merc quarters! Just press start to have access to all menus.
Unlike BF3, you cant just jump in a vehicle and expect to do well. You will need to train up those skills in order to control the vehicle well. Same goes for vehicle turrets. If you don't train the correct turret skills, you will be quite inaccurate. Also, you wont find any vehicle laying around like in BF3. If you want one, you'll have to request one. Initially you will only be able to call in a jeep.
A lot of people use the entry level militia gear at first. You have infinite use of all militia grade items so if you want to play for awhile and save, just use the default load outs. Once you have some money saved, you may want to upgrade a tier. For example, the "militia assault rifle" has a clip of 47. For 5k ISK you can by the "assault rifle" which has a clip of 60. Those 13 odd bullets can make the difference between killing and being killed. To put that 5k rifle in perspective, you make about 100-130,000 ISK per match.
Understand that this is NOT a demo, this is a big ass work in progress beta of a game that will have no final version. Dust will keep on evolving and improving in time. Be warned that the graphics are bare bones and the controls are still quite rough.Last edited by Ghost-Rhayne; 09-13-2012 at 03:14.

Just started this a few hours ago and I love it already. Thanks for the tips, this game definitely has a deep customization/progression system going on.

Great! Yeah, it's pretty mad. I counted 100 different skill parameters and this is just in the beta. There will be other vehicle types at launch for example. I saw a video with a jet type aircraft flying around so the drop ship won't be the only air vehicle.
Hmmm, any more tips...
Don't be discouraged if you try one of the other loadout types (heavy, scout, soldier or logi) and you don't do too well. Remember, this isn't a normal FPS, you need to have skills trained in the various weapon types in order to use them well. While you initially get all the different drop suit set ups to choose from, youll need to invest into the kind of weapons each uses in order to be effective.
In the skills screen, the multiplier you see (x1, x3, x5, x10) is how much the skill cost increase is per level. So if the first level of a skill costs 30,000SP, and it has a x3 multiplier, level 2 will cost 90,000SP, level 3 will cost 270,000 etc. This way you estimate how long a skill will take to level up. You earn about 17,500SP passively in a 24 hour period.Last edited by Ghost-Rhayne; 09-13-2012 at 03:33.

Re: DS3 sensitivity options, 0=higher sensitivity, 100=lower.
I had issues with the controls...having sensitivity set to maximum slowness...lol SMH.
Also, custom soundtrack! Play the game with your own music.

Awesome!

Yeah, it can be pretty intense at first. Doesn't help to know that the 100 possible upgrades in the beta will be expanded upon at launch lol. However, don't worry too much about it. Just experiment! There is going to be a final stat reset at launch so this is just a time to try things out. Start leveling things like your weapon of choice as well as the blanket skills that effect multiple other things (like vehicles and weaponry). Things like turrets are always a safe bet (try jumping in a tank without turret training if you want to see complete innacuarcy in action!).PSU GHOST SYNDICATE - DUST 514 Media HUB - Podcast - BLOG (Soon™)

It is sure very intense. A good tip is start with the skirmish contracts. They more comand-and-control nature are best for begginers as it helps in understanding how it works for real. Its all very fluid, one need to change dropsuits and adapt to the battle all the time. Very cool =)
