    Help me buy a laptop.

Okay, I turned 21 on the 14th of June and I got about 1,000 for my birthday SO I'm now looking at getting an upgraded laptop.

I primarily play games on it so I'm wanting a pretty decent rig but not wanting to spend much, and i'm stuck between getting a $#@!ty rig and spending all my money. I WAS looking to pay around 500 min - 600 Max and I don't think there is much wiggle room above 600 for me.

    Anyway, i've looked at two potential laptops;

Laptop 1 is from PC world:
    http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/samsun...12978-pdt.html
    For those who just want the details;

    Intel Core i5-2450m processor
    6gb ram

Nvidia Geforce GT520 MX Optimus graphics card
    500gb hard drive
    500

OR Laptop 2 is from a local company

hp, 15.6" screen, quad core, 4gb ddr3 ram, dual hd radeon 6620g + 7450m 1gb ddr3 dedicated graphics, webcam, card reader, wifi, dvdrw, windows 7, for around 459.99
I'm stuck for which one to go with tbh, any help choosing either one, or one completley different will be fine!
    Thanks

Basically I need as powerful a beast that comes under that price range. I do have a desktop, though it is pretty outdated (2007) and my current laptop is a Dell Studio from 2008.

What you need to know is I am a Computer Animation student. I need to run lots of graphic intensive software like Maya, 3dsMax and ZBrush. My current laptop runs these fine, though the render times are pretty abysmal and as I am creating more and more intensive things it is starting to crash more and more altogether. It is also starting to overheat quite quickly, so I am scared its on its last legs.

Any advice. (I need a laptop because I travel so much and I am a student).
It was suggested I upgrade the Desktop..but I REALLY need a laptop. So this thing pretty much need to be as big a b east as possible with the money I got.
    Trophy-licious!

If you don't mind saving up a little bit - and waiting that little bit longer i'd suggest buying an Alienware M14x (the R2 is out now as well) i spent about 1200 all in all on mine and i love it. It's actually surprising how much more i use it than my desktop what is much better for gaming.

You can pick them up starting at 999. As i said, you may have to save the money but i think it's worth it. I love mine. As soon as the R3 is out i'll be buying one of those

of the two you listed i'd get the Samsung just for reliability factor

however, if you don't mind going up to 700, Dell have a very good laptop that will play current games at med-high settings

3rd Generation Intel Core i5-3210M processor (3M Cache, up to 3.10 GHz)
    6GB DDR3 SDRAM at1600MHz
    1TB Serial ATA (5400RPM)
    2GB AMD Radeon HD 7730M

7000 series from AMD is also very nice to your battery
very, very nice to your battery and very, very good 3D performance, better than the two you've got listed....unless i read out the names wrong

personally, i'd get a Sony as i have one at this thing is still going
in the same time frame i've had two workhorses(non-gaming), HP then Dell, that have died. my Vaio is my HUB for all my on the move entertainment
    but they cost....

Good luck with that, its not going to take you very far as a gaming laptop.

laptops and gaming arent the ideal setup.. but I would stay away from alienware. Yeah theyre cool but overpriced. MedicDog that laptop is for casual pc gaming at best.

To play most games at high specs you need:
i5 or i7 (i7 barely helps but nice to have)
    8g+ ram
    gtx560+ graphics card

But there are a lot of different combinations that are great too
