    Memorable video game openings

I thought I would make this since we had a couple "best of/top 5" threads popping up lately. Anyways, I was reading an article on Eurogamer about title screens and that made me wonder what particular openings/title sequences from video games stand out for the PSU community as being memorable? I'll post a couple that come to mind:

Persona 3: FES for the PlayStation 2

The first opening I want to mention is for one of my favorite JRPG titles. That isn't to say that the opening for Persona 4 isn't any good. It's just that the above opening has a nice blend of gameplay footage and cutscenes showcasing the story.

    -----

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes for the Nintendo Gamecube

I mainly like this one because it has a really cool, dark atmosphere which is something I'm not particularly familiar with when it comes to Nintendo. Good effects, lighting, music, and use of the text moving across the screen. It's pretty slick, even if it is a last-gen title.

    -----

Kingdom Hearts 2 for the PlayStation 2

It might not showcase any gameplay footage, but it's still pretty impressive. The fact that I'm one of the rare few that actually prefers listening to Hikaru Utada's "Sanctuary" to the one in the original Kingdom Hearts helps too. But it's also the style of the game, I guess, and that Square Enix pizazz. The golden text, sound effects, clean visual style etc.

Metal Gear Solid for PS1. One of the best intros I have ever seen. It blew me away in 1998 and it still blows me away today. The MGS demo disk that contained the opening and first level of the game had me in awe. No game has done that to me since, not even MGS4. I truly believe the original Metal Gear Solid was far ahead of it's time.

I don't really need a water cooler/remote control as of right now.

All I need is one video. First time you see Rapture in this opening, my jaw dropped in awe.

That Kingdom Hearts 2 intro will always hold a special place in my heart.

My most memorable will always be the Final Fantasy VII intro. Goes straight into the action!.

I also concur with Final Fantasy VIII. Always loved, Nobuo Uematsu's art in music. One other mention is the Final Fantasy X intro, the first Final Fantasy game on the PS2 and it started out with a bang!.

c'mon, whats with all the softness in this thread? this is one of the best openings to a game.
drama, conflict, plot......no wishy washy nonsense
written by the same chick who now presides as the Uncharted script lead and creative director
    Amy Hennig is the man!

maybe not as memorable to some, but this opening always got me pumped! not that its needed to play a DBZ game....

Soul Reaver opening music is dark and fits the game really well.

Not particularly great intro but the game is.
