http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/sony-...-an-end/098509It seems as if time may have been called on the Resistance series.
Speaking to Official PlayStation Magazine, SCEE’s online producer Daniel Brooke stated that: “The Resistance franchise has been exciting to work on but as for the future we have no definitive plans.”
The Resistance IP began with Insomniac Games’ PS3 launch title Resistance: Fall of Man. This was followed by a sequel, Resistance 2, in 2008 and then PSP title Resistance: Retribution in 2009.
The third PS3 game was released last year and earlier this year the IP made its Vita debut with Resistance: Burning Skies.
Insomniac revealed in January that it did not intend to develop any further titles in the series.

Its in Insomniac's interest to stop working on it so they can concentrate on a new IP. much like they stopped with Spyro.
I'm indifferent because I loved all of the Resistance games, but I also don't want them to either milk it, or screw it up.
In my eyes, theres nothing wrong with a franchise either ending or put on the backburner for a while

Bah, both Insomniac Games and Nihilistic are incompetent with the franchise. Sure the first Resistance game did a great job starting the pace for a potentially great franchise but it crumbled with the second game. Resistance 3 helped it get back up a little but did little on the story side(Not referring to Capelli's story). The reason for it's poor sales are mainly due to the turd you call a multiplayer(Which caused much skepticism about the game in general) and the obvious poor presentation of the second game. They should have expanded on the Co-Op online play which was the only great thing about Resistance 2 for multiplayer and go more in depth with the universe for the campaign.

Oh well.
The series was nothing special.
Insomniac hasn't been particular good this generation.

i think the series could use a break at least. Sony has been pushing out a lot of Resistance games it seems like, maybe a reboot next gen would be better

I guess not every big franchise can keep going with a new game every year or 2. At least the series won't be overdone. I enjoyed the multiplayer of the first Resistance, but man R2's was horrible. Didn't even play R3 due to what I heard others saying about the game in general. Even when I see R3 for dirt cheap, I pass on it.

Insomniac is no longer a Exclusive company, it will be making games from now on to be multi-platform games, i can see the reason of no more Resistance.
i played the first game enjoyed it because was the only shooter out on launch day for PS3 lol but the others i didnt bother with tbh.

No need to continue it at all, Sony can very easily make a new shooter IP anyway. Guerrilla, Santa Monica and probably Sucker Punch are working on new IPs, so lets see.
No they aren't. IG has two studios, one is multiplat, the other (the ORIGINAL IG from the 90s) is still making PS3 exclusives. Say hello to the new R&C coming later this year.

I'm not surprised. I don't think the Resistance franchise was very popular to begin with. Also, from what I've read, Burning Skies was a bit underwhelming.

I don't see the big deal. Resistance 3 pretty much ended the series, which is fine. Its good that they end it now and keep it from attaining "Metal Gear" status, also known as jumping the shark. Its like James Dean. The series died young, making it forever cool.
During E3 I check out the booth babes, and if that's wrong...then maybe I'm missing the point of E3

In my opinion Resistance: Fall of Man was the best and it went slowly downhill from there. No surprises to me really.

The only major difference is the direction they're going for. It has that pixar-like look to it followed by the humor which they're masters of. I'm confident that Overstrike will actually work compared to Resistance.
It was Nihilistic but they ended up screwing things up in the end with Burning Skies hence my disappointment with both studios for killing the franchise off.

It's unfortunate to read this. I have been playing Resistance Fall of Man since 2007 while the sequels have had great story telling but it wasn't the same as the first one. I'm still playing Fall of Man online and can't help but notice they're trying to shut the game off. The lags are horrible and there's no moderators since the past 4 months.

Played a little of the first game, and it was without a doubt...a first-person shooter. Honestly, I don't see why Sony couldn't replace this series quite easily. If they were really savvy, a TIMESPLITTERS game would fit the bill nicely...
Shut up and play games
