Half-Life 2: Episode 3 concept art?

ValveTime has posted what it claims are leaked shots of Half Life 2: Episode 3 concept art on its Facebook page. According to the claim: “For the avoidance of doubt, I just want to stress that we absolutely would not release these pictures if we didn’t know for a fact they were real. They absolutely are,” said a team member on the Steam forums. “Please just enjoy them as they are, and try not to look for conspiracies that aren’t there. I mean, it’s not like we’re doing it to attract traffic to our site. We know our server can’t cope with the load so we don’t want massive influxes of traffic like this. You may have noticed we’ve been offline since.” Valve has yet to respond to the claim. Hit up the link for a look.

I agree. The fact that they are showing only concept art instead of actual character models and such, lead me to believe that they have not even begun Episode 3. And at this point, I would just rather have HL3.

But because this is concept art from 2008, and details are subject to change, there's a good chance that they've been working on it for a while now. They're most likely gearing up for an official announcement soon.

Naming it Half-Life 3 instead of Episode 3 doesn't change anything. I expect this game to be amazing when it finally releases.

It would be really great if we got some info soon. Its rather annoying to have to wait long for just info. I suppose we can expect the game to take place in the snow? Based on the images. Also Russian plot plays into this now or is that hat just random?

City 17 and its surrounding areas are based in an Eastern European setting so it's not surprising. Not to mention that towards the end of Episode 2, they make plans to reach the Borealis via the use of a helicopter to rescue Judith.

More Half-Life would be amazing. I'll try to keep from getting excited again until we get a trailer or at least some official statements from Valve... That concept art is from 2008... That's when MGS4 came out.

That said the concepts looks great. I like the idea of characters getting a bit of an update (Alyx better have the same voice actor of course... along with the same/ish face). That one concept of Alyx Vance wearing the blue jackets looks sort of like Korra lol.

They did the opposite.
Did you not notice the beginning of Portal 2 when Chell was in cryosleep for possibly hundreds of years?
They even said in interviews that they wanted to separate the 2 franchises as much as possible.

Still, that ship does end up in Aperture somehow and if the plot of HL3 involves it..it is safe to say we will be getting some crossover.

Also there is no way to tell the time period of the original Portal and Portal 2 in relation to Half-Life...and also the fact that Freeman can seemingly appear anywhere now like he did at the beginning of HL2 with G-Man.

It didnt end up in Aperature. It was created there (I believe it was the 70s) and then disappeared and at the end of Half-Life 2 episode 2 they found it and were going there until the end cutscene happens.
Aperature and Black Mesa were competitors before the world went to shit but if thats what you consider a crossover thats fine. I wont ruin your dreams.

Even so, if they get to the boat..there could be a chance there is a portal gun in one of those storage containers.
