Will we Ever get proper remote play?

Just wondering if you guys think sony will finally release a full remote play for ps vita? obviously its possible so why hold back.

Here's to hoping. Obviously, publishers will force Sony back as much as they can, since I'm sure they have some beef against remote play. I'd love to see fully blown remote play one day though.

If they did I'd buy it immediately. Hopefully they're just really testing it right now (since there's a lot of games to test, they don't want to release and have some games freezy).

They did give the impression that would be a pivotal feature, but now, im not so hopeful. Its annoying because that was going to be one of the biggest positives of buying and having such a system. But, they would have done it by now if they were going to, no?

It is funny how my modded PS3 can do remote play with damn near any PS3 game just fine. The PS3 can do right now if Sony would just unlock the ability in the firmware.

It's not me acting about anything. It's about Sony and how the ability is already there, they just have to offer it and promote it.

LOL. This thread brings back memories. I remember the PSP being shown as a rear view mirror for the F1 game years ago, and now one generation later and people are still waiting for proper remote play.

you know what i really could care less about remote play i still want to know why it's taking so long for cross play to catch up because hackers are already enjoying cross play for tons of titles and here we sit legit users and where stuck waiting

Seems like some people are forgetting what remote play and cross play is.

Remote play - taking control off a different device via local/internet
Cross play - the Wii U or for some already released titles for the vita, Wipeout HD, MotorStorm HD and MGSHD. While others on the way FFX, LBP2 update to allow the Vita as a controller.

Not really sure why Sony hasn't released full remote play yet, could be cause they want it perfect... But I'd rather just get my PS3 updated now and then get a patch later to fix any lag if possible.

Cross play I find is much better, being able to versus PS3 players online or like LBP2 use it as another controller/screen. I'd expect (for some games) you'll need to download/transfer game data onto the PSVita so the Vita will process what it'll need (menu/map/in-game but toned down) so only game inputs are needed to be sent and not rendered pictures.

2) Go to work.
3) Access PS3 via Vita.
4) Access laptop HDD via PS3 media server via Vita.
5) Watch new download or anything anywhere on my HDDs.
6) ...
7) Profit.

I'm patient enough for remote play. Shit's gonna get serious real soon, Sony said ages ago that they had plans for remote play which would be implemented down the line. Dunno when it will hit but the functionality of Vita FW wise is still very much in it's infancy. It's only 5 months in guys! Vita is a 5-10 year product, and while I had confidence in Sony to deliver on the emote play front, with the Giakai purchase I think they will nail it. Time will tell, but all things point towards awesome RP someday. As Lethal said, it's possible already on modded PS3s, Sony just need to flip the switch.

The difference is, hackers can implement anything without worrying if the system gets bricked or some other bad stuff happens, because you can't take them to court, Sony on the other hand will have to test this extensively with all games and make sure nothing goes wrong.

Anyway with the new Gaikai deal, they should be able to do it either from PSN or implement it better.

I guess you can use that to give Sony some support for them not releasing a feature that is able to work very well.

Sony is probably testing Remote Play to get it to work over 3G. They probably had a behind closed doosr deal with Gaikai, knowing that they were going to purchase Gaikai they probably decided to wait until they get everything sorted out to allow PS3 to be streamed via Gaikai to make up for it. What is more than likely the case is that they didn't want people buying strictly Remote Play capable PS3 games and not buying Vita games with a plan to enable Remote Play after the Vita's library gets more AAA games. There would be no excuse for that, especially with Sony introducing RP in the PSP only to advertise RP on the Vita and have a stripped down version of it.

Oh please. If you feel that's required, then you can answer the thread title with a single word, "NO". Otherwise, you need to learn more about what Remote Play is, and how it works with games.
