Weren't Polyphony hiring recently, for another team or something? Can't really remember the details but if so then let's hope GT Vita is some way along, cos it'd be fantastic to have this

Basically that probably means they aren't doing anything on it right now. OR, they have it in full force!!!! I hope so. I can imagine that it will be a great looking, playing, game; I'll be getting it too!

I imagine it's in development somewhere within SCE WWS. The question is if PD are doing it themselves.

The chances of it being released in the first couple years of the Vita are unlikely due to Polyphony's love of thoroughness

I play the PSP version on the vita and it runs fine. I see no reason they couldn't alter the build to get something great out the door in a year or two.
That said I just don't understand why anyone would play GT with anything other than a driving wheel? I guess I am just spoiled but I lost all since of realism without it now.....now something like Motorstorm or an arcade racer I can see but to me it just loses the feel of simulation without one.

I think you're on the right track. They probably could be using some of the modeling from the PSP version, OR, they could be using the modeling from the PS3 version and toning them down for the Vita.
I don't have any issues with the "portable" version without a wheel, compared to the PS3 version with a wheel. I understand the difference completely but playing the PSP version without a wheel doesn't affect the gameplay in that sense. Good post davin_g.

It will be 6 years away anyway. GT on the PSP was pretty boring after a while, hopefully this is better.

Here's my guess on what they're doing
I'd say they got a pretty good size team working on the Vita version, while another team works away at GT6 for PS4 which at the same time leads to some GT5 DLC. I'll expect the same premium car models in GT6 but will look better with fancy effects - ray-tracing etc.. Racetracks will stay the same but updated with 3D trees! higher res textures and overall improvements.
Overall improvements to GT6 for PS4 will be the track detail, smoke, shadows, weather effects, damage, physics, gameplay and all the important stuff. But reusing most of GT5 content
GT5 makes a good base for future games, the premium cars are very detailed although some improvements can be made to the models themselves (visible wire for example they look pretty bad in GT5). Easy stuff to fix/improve
As for the Vita, I'd say it could use GT5 content as GT5 is a higher res game then most PS3 games so lower it down to the Vita res would help the performance a lot and some other toning down and some cheap tricks/effects to make it look good on the Vita.. Get the game engine up and running etc...
I think that would be the best way to get the games produced for the company. Thats GT5 DLC for all the way upto GT6 is released, GT Vita and GT6Last edited by XSpike; 07-04-2012 at 23:49.
