As much as I love the Silent Hill series...don't get Silent Hill Downpour. The game play is good, and the story is passable; but, the monsters are very unoriginal, and I just didn't get into it at all. I played maybe 3 hours, and I had to stop. The rest of the SH games are amazing though; I would definitely check them out.

    Oldie: Conan
    - low budget God of War rip off, extreme cheap final boss, naked women and Ron Perlman do not save this title

    The Amazing Spider Man
    - for the most part it is boring, ridiculously long, graphics are murky, second beenox spider man game that fails to match Shattered Dimensions

    X-men: Destiny
    - Silicon Knights proves Unreal3 wasn't to blame, one of the worst games of the generation, can't even get basic settings details right

El Shaddai: Voice of the Metatron

    - yes it is trippy, yes the story is not something you'd normally see in a game, but it is short, and tedious

    Asura's Wrath
    - not sure this is really a game, more like an interactive novel with a lot of QTE, rent, you can finish the main game in like 6 hrs

I recommend it but not full price for the epic revenge against the gods storyline alone. Btw how greedy is capcom to have the last few levels of the game as dlc u gotta buy?

Agreed 100%. I wasted money and time on this piece of ****.

Guerrilla was good game. I was very impressed with this game and loved to blow up stuff especially with the dynamite that sticks to the buildings and then when you press the button there is a series of explosions which looked superb.

There newest edition is one of the worst games I have played.

Lord of the Rings: War in the North

I'm not a huge LOTR fan but feel there is a lot of gaming potential in the franchise and the old PS2 games were excellent from what I can remember, so it puzzles me as to why they can't create something really good for the PS3/360.

    Reasons to avoid:

    1. The Levels and Enemies are really repetitive.
    2. The AI characters are pretty useless and incredibly stupid.
    3. The story line is obviously a half hearted attempt at playing with the movie and it is accompanied by some of the worst voice overs I have ever heard in a game.

I know these are all opinions and stuffs but too me, Saints Row 2 wasnt too bad, i played throughout half the game then just moved on because of getting newer games. NFS Shift 2 was ok for its play style but not my type and if you want a racing game like that get Gran Turismo. NFS Undercover was enjoyable because you can play as the racer and as the cop ( correct me if im wrong ).

Had a blast with this game, actually trying to find somewhere to get it but dont want to pay too much. Anyways back on topic, I think it is good for people that like to spend time playing the older games and not just the newer games that are always the 'best' as some may put it.

Not entirely, im hoping by that you were kidding. Good for people that like to free roam and play the RPG Type games, lots of variety into Skyrim.

Haze I had alot of fun playing, sucks that there are no trophies to encourage you to keep playing. Good shooter type game and switches things up part way throughout game. NFSC was also another good racing game that had some fun events into it. Good for racing fans. Some parts can be more difficult but still alot of fun to race comps and your friends.

Is that the game where you roll around and collect things to get bigger? If so I found it enjoyable but it will get repetitive.

    Hyperdimension Neptunia V

I love me a great JRPG but holy smokes this is the worst game I've EVER played. Naturally I changed the voices to Japanese which makes it a little more bearable but they have to say something in regards to absolutely EVERYTHING. If anyone has actually completed this game with the English voices I applaud them.. because this has got to be the most ANNOYING game to ever be put into my console.

Oh and don't buy Time and Eternity, it's so perverted and weird..

Was it truthfully that bad because I was going to give the game a try, but you make it sound like Star Ocean: The Last Hope another game I dreaded ever to buy that got derailed by bad voice acting both in Japanese and English plus dialogue and worlds were nothing special.

I didn't mind the VAs in Star Ocean apart from Lymle's with her 'cute' 'kay phrase. It bugged me ); Laura Bailey was Reimi though and she's one of my favourite English VAs so I didn't mind listening to her.

But it really is that annoying. I would enjoy it more if the characters weren't trying to be so cutesy. I'm not sure what Hyperdimension Neptunia is like, I heard that game is far better than Victory which is the one I played. The characters will pretty much say something for everything you do including jumping and then in battle for every move you do. As you can imagine, the English dialogue sounds terrible..

The voices are annoying in Star Ocean 4( funny that it improved the flaws of Star Ocean 3 but SO3 I thought was better)
Lair wasn't good the time I tried it with motion controls.
FFXIII was a disappointment for a game that had been in production for 7 years.

The last few uninspired games I've played and regretted...

Fuse: Bland, what you get if you threw a bunch of generic third person shooters into a blender and took all the most generic concepts.

Star Trek: How do you take a popular IP, what seems to be the actual voice cast, graphics that are occasionally excellent, borrow game play elements from the Uncharted series, and still end up with a crappy game? Guns are under powered, headshots don't have the same bite, cover mechanics aren't fluid, no close combat moves and fast moving swarming enemies, practically no tutorial material at all.

Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse: I just had to see how bad this game was, having a Gamefly account can be dangerous. This is one of the most uninspired games I've ever seen. It has pretty crummy gameplay, isn't particularly funny, is overly long, and the final boss is so aggressively unfair and poorly thought out I gave up. The aliens parody stage near the end of the game is actually kind of amusing at times, from pretty much spot on hallways and sound cues, to chest bursting chickens, not to mention a lot of popculture scifi references. And there's some sick humor in a stage where all the bad guys are handicapped people. But for the most part it just sucked.

Aliens: Colonial Marines: Another case of a IP that should have been an easy home run. Spot on sound design, used movie sound effects and music, much of the setting looks exactly like you'd expect. But crappy AI, poorly animated aliens, underpowered weapons (especially since the aliens are fast moving swarming enemies that focus only on the player in key events), and it never did live up to the promises. Story made next to no sense either, they literally blow things off, why is the Sulloco back at LV-426? Someone asked, and then it never comes up again. One of the characters from the film is alive, without much in the way of explanation.

Remember Me: Derivative, but should have been better than it was, had some neat ideas and was occasionally quite pretty. They basically wanted Dues Ex Human Revolution but with Batman: Arkham Asylum's combat and didn't get close to either. The signature tech of remixing memories is only used like 3-4 times in the entire game, and the story is so utterly wrapped around the main character it is weird.

Metal Gear Lightning: Revengeance: Ugly, uninspired, stupid story, even stupider final boss, most of Raiden's coolest scenes are QTE or cut scenes. Combat wasn't nearly as much fun as Bayonetta from the same studio. A very tedious game to play.

God I was lookin' forward to Colonial Marines for about six years - still have a magazine where its first screens were released. Probably inevitable the ball would be dropped after the development hell it went through, la Duke Nukem.

Still haven't played Revengeance actually, have been meaning to. So it doesn't hold a candle to other Platform games? (Really enjoyed Bayonetta/Vanquish.)

Bayonetta is a stupid game in many ways, the ridiculous level of sexualization of the main character for example, but it is so over the top that it is genuinely fun for the majority of the game. Bayonetta has a pretty significant move set, tons of ridiculously large attacks, and a pretty consistent level of over the top action. It's not always the prettiest of games, especially on the PS3, and the story doesn't always make much sense, but I enjoyed pretty much the whole experience. Bayonetta for all her campiness is an interesting and powerful character.

MGL: Revengeance is a different story. It's considerably less attractive than the last full MGS console game, despite being about 5 or 6 years newer. It is considerably less over the top than Bayonetta, despite many of the QTE sequences being stupidly unrealistic. In one Raiden essentially catches a sword that is bigger than an 18 wheeler and picks up the entire metal gear attacking him by its sword, all 50ft of it, and throws it, but then spends much of the rest of the game spamming attacks to take out minor henchmen types. For a character we last saw kicking ass in a big way in MGS4, with a very stylized acrobatic combat system what we end up with in the playable game is a system based on spamming attacks until you can trigger a sword strike, which is pretty much repeated in every fight till the end of the game. While sword cuts can be neat, you spend a lot of time spamming cuts on armored weak spots on bosses seemingly accomplishing little. You also have no choice, because Raiden can't restore his own energy, he has to steal it from targets by slicing off part of them and triggering a finishing attack that steals their spine. It is also fairly easy to get swarmed and killed, so in a game that isn't supposed to be a stealth you spend a lot of time trying to get behind targets without being seen or having any real cover movement system to get instant kill attacks. This is because the worst combat scenario in the game is to get swarmed by a couple closer range bad guys while someone in the distances fires RPG rounds at you. Enemies are random though so dying a couple times generally mixes up the stage's encounters and you'll eventually get s version without RPG troops. It's backwards, this is a game you should have been running and gunning on, taking out swarms of minor foes as an after thought in passing, deflecting bullets and rockets back to the people firing them. The game makes QTE success mandatory for winning boss fights as well, get the sequence wrong and you take a big hit and your bad guy recovers a good chunk of health and the fight continues, forever, till you win by doing the QTE right. And the QTE's change. The final boss in particular is a pain, since there's several fairly long QTE sequences involving precision cuts that must be done cleanly every time. The game also sets out to make Raiden cool, without actually accomplishing it, he's less cool here than he was in MGS4, and the fact this game doesn't live up to the promise inherent in that sequence in MGS4 doesn't help.

If you have to buy Revengeance I wouldn't recommend paying full price, I got it through my Gamefly rental package. If you see it for less than $20 it might be worth it, if you really have to play it. But I seem to recall it being fairly short, and I was still impatient for it to end.

I'm not the biggest fan of QTEs, it must be said. Thanks for the reply.

It's comin' out on PS+ for free in November as far as I'm aware, I'll give it a whirl provided my PS3 installs it.

    It's barely enjoyable.

Desmond's journey is horrible, and the Istambul map is the smallest yet even it being the 4th installment in the series. Plus the updated controls are not to my liking, I've played the 3 precedent games and was pretty much used to the controls.
