Favorite kind of music and favorite band from that Genre!

I am just curious to what kind of music everyone listens to and who their favorite band(s) are! I pretty much listen to everything except for heavy metal! So you name it, I'll probably know it, I personally don't have a favorite Genre because I like it all! But my favorite bands are FUN, Cage the Elephant, Tyga, Eminem, Lil' Wayne, and there are a lot more and I dont wanna make everyone read a long list! So post your favorite genre and band(s) here! Who knows, someone might find a new type of music they like?!

Currently, my favorite genre right now is Drum N Bass. LTJ Bukem, Goldie, Lemon D, Dillinjia, Photek among many I listen to. Mostly old school or if it sounds good. I hate dubstep.

My 2nd favorite genre is Grunge. Pearl Jam tops my list. I just love them. Ten, VS And Vitalogy are my favorite albums. Alice in Chains, Soundgarden and Nirvana, I listen to.

Rage Against the Machine, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and Nine Inch Nails are some others I listen to. I hate most rap music.

Like the choices! And I agree with the dubstep deal, if it doesn't sound good I don't like it, but Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers! Excellent bands! Can't say the same about Pearl Jam, not really my favorite, I can stand to listen to em, but not for more than one or two songs of theirs, but yes, I like your choices!

Same as me man though I don't mind a bit of Drumstep (150-160BPM) Lemon D has changed his name (again) from Lemmonde to K-AZE now.

My producers of choice are names such as Serial Killaz, Serum and Bladerunner, Krome & Tyme, S.P.Y, Heist and Maniatrate. Anything within Jungle I like but my favourite sub genres is jump up and heavy rollers.

I've listened to Netsky before, really upbeat dnb.

So, if I want to listen to newer Lemon D songs, I'll have to YT search "K-AZE"? lol He's like the Sean Combs of DNB eh?

I like jungle too, but dark or atmospheric DNB where it feels like you're in some other world is my favorite. That's why I listen to LTJ Bukem. Cause I feel like I'm in the damn cosmos LOL

I don't have a specific favorite genre per say but I do like older music from the 60's the best. Favorite band are definitely The Beatles.

Older music has so much more character i find. I love how on some older songs you can hear slight mistakes they've made when recording it and sometimes the sounds are so distinct you could tell what studio they're made at. Now music just all feels too perfect and it ruins it for me.

just my odd view on music i suppose

Other than Jungle/DnB my second favorite genre is hip hop and then everything else i can appreciate

I don't get what is so great about The Beatles. I mean they're pretty good, I'll give them that, and they've made great music, but a lot of it is just feel-good music that's pretty standard. Also, for all their good songs, they've done a tremendous amount of garbage. They're fine musicians, but legendary? Some of the greatest? I think not. Not even close.

Also I think John Lennon is the biggest hypocrite and I won't be missing him in the slightest.

If you study The Beatles from the start with Please Please Me to Abbey Road - I don't think you can find any other band, before or after, that changed their style so dramatically. The Beatles invented genres on their own. They continuously outperformed and set a new bar for music album by album during a whole decade and then some. That's unprecedented in our history. The Beatles we're also the first one to make a music video, practically inventing MTV.

Obviously, not everyone like their music and that's fine. But to say they are not legendary or not even close to the greatest is just silly. To suggest that you can't really know a whole lot about music history.

In terms of influence I don't deny how much they've shaped music history. I'm just talking about their music in and of itself. I don't think the quality of their music justifies being one of the greatest bands ever.

A lot of people don't like The Beatles' first five albums or so. As you said, it's mainly just poppy "feel good" music. But starting with Rubber Soul and especially Revolver (my favorite Beatles album), their music becomes a lot more mature, psychedelic, intricate, and meaningful. However, all three phases of The Beatles were extremely influential. Those early albums helped paved the way for rock music in general, then Revolver was really the first experimental rock album ever released, so that was obviously extremely important. And lastly, there's the political phase, which goes without explaining.

All in all though, The Beatles were just great songwriters, which is why their music is so timeless. It's the same with The Beach Boys' legendary album Pet Sounds, which was just pop rock, but pop rock written perfectly. Anywho, I think you should listen to Revolver and if you like what you hear, then listen to the proceeding albums.

Yup, the Beatles was mainly "Big" in their time and maybe a few or more years after that, they're kind of like Michael Jackson, there are the handful of people who like his music, but there are also the people who do not... Its mainly just what kind of music you like, no real true answer, just opinions.

    Completely and totally wrong.

    http://www.usatoday.com/life/music/n...=14gcgtelkrva4

"11.4 million Beatles 1 albums sold: In the first decade of the 21st century, the hits compilation Beatles 1 sold 11.4 million copies, more than any other album and one of only four to sell more than 10 million copies. In 2000, it entered the chart with 595,000 copies, sold 662,000 the next week and peaked with 1.3 million during Christmas week, spending a total of eight weeks at No. 1 in Billboard. The Beatles trailed only Eminem for total album sales for the decade, selling 30 million to his 32.2 million."

"2.3 million remastered catalog sales: In 2009, the release of The Beatles’ remastered catalog broke chart records worldwide."

Whether everyone likes them or not is a different issue, but they are still very popular. There is a reason Apple made such a huge deal about getting them on iTunes and it was not because they were popular in the 60s. No one is making this kind of promotion for Herman's Hermits.

The first week the Beatles hit iTunes they sold 2 million songs and 450,000 albums.

Its not wrong, its an opinion matter, people like the beatles, and people don't! It totally just depends on the type of music you like and listen to! I don't see how that is wrong!? Lol

LTJ was a boss at creating tunes like that. I just wish i was born a few years earlier so i would've been able to appreciate a tune like this going off for the first time.

The Amen breaks in this tune are something else, one of my all time favorites and to think it was made back in 96 yet it sounds much better than some tunes coming out now that all sound like one another with their high ends

edit: But yeah, Lemon D changes his name more than anyone i can think off. Dillinja used to be Capone and Clipz is now Redlight and Lobsterboy
