Questions and confusion about PlayStation Plus

So okay, I am currently subscribed to PlayStation Plus. I have some questions and am confused about some things.

1. I heard that if you don't resubscribe to PlayStation Plus when your time is over, you lose all the things you bought and the things you got for free. So for example, if I download Deuxs Human game this week, when my subscription is over in October, do I lose it? I'm just so confused about this.

2. How does cloud gaming work? Or is that cloud gaming on PS +? There's a way you can save data to your PS + account if something happens to your hard drive. Can someone tell me how that works?

3. How does PS + work on the PS Vita? Is it even on PS Vita?

Your content will remain but it will just be blocked until you re-subscribe.

It's not cloud gaming, it's cloud saving. You can upload all your save data into it so if you ever want to switch hard drives(Or your PS3 stops working completely); you can re-obtain your save data into your new console or hard drive. I used it when I had to switch hard drives. Note: if your subscription expires, your data will remain in the servers up to 6 months.

3. How does PS + work on the PS Vita? Is it even on PS Vita?
It does have PS+ but not enough content to subscribe if you only own a Vita. If you own both then you only need 1 subscription for both platforms.

4. How big are game files such as infamous 2 and deus? My internet speed is now 12 mbps. Will it still take days to download a game?
Not sure about Deus Ex but Infamous 2 is 14Gb. It took me 7 hours to download with a 20mb connection.

Just to add to Fon's answer, yes, content is locked until you resubscribe once again BUT it's only for game stuff that's been given to you for free. You can keep whatever you've bought when you became a PS+ subscription with discounts or full price, and you get to keep all avatars and themes you've been given as well. To sum it up:

Keep: stuff you bought, discount or not, avatars, themes
Cannot keep: free DLC, free games, free minis

Just on a side note: I have re-sub'd for a year when I saw all the free games available. I'm downloading 50+GB's of games today lol. My kids were really excited for LBP 2, Pac-Man, R&C:All4/1, and a few other things.

As awesome as PS+ seems to be, I don't game enough for it to be worth it. But thanks to F34R (and I believe Lethal as well?), by winning his contest got the 3 month sub, I was able to try it out, and get FF VI-IX for $20! So thanks guys!
